The Courtyard Downtown is a good option for staying in Oakland. Clean, nice rooms and quiet. The exercise room is small and not very functional, but overall a decent value for the money if you have to stay downtown.

This hotel is located in a great location. You can find restaurants within walking distance. And BART is only 2 blocks away. The rooms are clean. The housekeeping crew and the valet parking staff are friendly. However, some of their staffs in the front desk are just rude and discriminating. They will use "the hotel has changed management" to denied your requests. And some time even just plainly tell you "No" for even small requests such as a pen to use. If they have informed you with wrong information, instead of giving an apology, they totally denied it. It is hard to believe. If you can tolerate this, this is a good place to stay.

I came for Oracle Openworld. The show attracted 42,000 attendees, no wonder some of the 4-star hotels on the San Francisco side were charging $800 a nite. And why swim 20 minutes through the hordes in the Financial District to get to Moscone Convention Center when for just a little more time, you can BART it over from downtown Oakland?

For $129 (I booked 3 months ahead in mid-August), I got a double room with my family (wife and two little kids). It was a little cramped for all of us but otherwise totally great. Beds were comfy. Room was quiet. The valets and front-desk people were polite and helpful. The complimentary Wi-Fi was a little weak, i.e. surfing your laptop while on the toilet is not recommended. But there is a wired plug-in for the Internet at the desk which was much faster.

The hood can feel a little sketchy at night, but they've helped that by blocking the Broadway entrance at that time. Chinatown is totally safe, and convenient for groceries and eating, incl. late night snacks. And the 12th St. BART stop is just two blocks away.

Good hotel - across the street from the Convention Center and Chinatown. Block and a half from BART. Stock rooms but clean and decent size, no adjourning room noise. Fitness room is cardio only. If included, Breadfast is good - eggs to order, freshly cooked waffles, et al. No lounge and not many bars nearby. Other than Chinese food - it appears the area has a very limited selection of restaurants. Overall, if you need to be in Downtown Oakland, a good selection.

I stayed at the Courtyard Oakland Downtown for 3 days. The $139.00 rate I booked on the Marriott website included free internet access, free buffet breakfast for both of us each morning(great selection including made-to-order omlettes and waffles), and free valet parking. The room was the usual Courtyard room, but appeared to be relatively new.

The hotel is located 1 block from the Oakland Marriott City Center Hotel where parking is $28 and internet access is $10 per day.
