Had to stay here overnight when the airport shut down due to the Asiana Crash. They were very reasonably priced and we loved the eating area. We could get a drink and a meal in the evening! Staff was wonderful! TV's in the lounge area were great since we wanted to see the news! Rooms were clean and had anything we could want. We did face the street and it was noisy as it was a city and we heard all the cars and sirens. Also heard people in the halls at times. That said- not a bad location for a night!

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the street so you don't hear all the cars!

When visiting our son and daughter-in-law who live in Oakland we have stayed in San Francisco and Emeryville. San Francisco is crowded, noisy and expensive before we even talk about going back and forth across the Bay Bridge. Emeryville has been okay-decent location, but you have to go through some bad areas to get to where we needed in Oakland. We didn't know of places to stay in Oakland except for the big Marriott. We were very pleasantly surprised at the Courtyard! Very clean and comfortable. The black out curtains really helped get us some much needed sleep-plus it was quiet on the 5th floor! Nice decor, comfy beds, clean towels and a good shower-what more could you ask for? We were able to walk to our son and daughter-in-law's apt., Lake Chalet and many other restaurants. Also the Courtyard is across the street from up and coming Old Oakland which has the Farmer's Market on Friday, walking distance to Jack London Square and Oakland City Center. Starbucks just across the street although they serve Starbuck's coffee in the lobby (overpriced and not as good). We would definitely stay there again. For anyone that needs a BART or the highway this hotel is very convenient.

This was just ok. Disappointed that the carpets needed to be cleaned in our room. I can't think of anything outstanding to say except that it was convenient from the freeway. If I ever have to stay in Oakland again I'm not sure I'll choose this hotel.

Stayed here as an alternative to expensive San Francisco hotels, location is really convenient (right across the bridge) to driving and mass transit, staff was helpful with directions and attraction information. All the businesses are Asian and other than the hotel restaurant there were not many other options for dining, but that was not a problem since we spent our day in San Francisco.

My wife and I have stayed here before. This is not a fancy hotel, but very reasonable in price (especially when there's a deal). The location isn't perfect but it isn't bad. It's only a block from BART and there are some very nice restaurants nearby. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wasn't happy with the room they first gave us as it was near the elevator. They were quick to accommodate a request for a change which was very pleasing. They have done away with free coffee in the lobby as they now have a small food service and have a deal with Starbucks which is a drag. However, their gym was under repair so we were able to use the gym in the nearby Marriott (less than a block away), which was gorgeous and kept up well. Be sure to try to use that gym! Not the Ritz, but all in all, a very satisfactory experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street, not the inner courtyard.
