First, I need to note that the area has a lot of construction right now and that might contribute to some of my dislikes about this particular hotel. The hotel is old, the elevator is slow. It felt like a place an old place in New York - so be prepared for that. Our room connected to another room and we could hear the TV and music from that room better than the TV in our our own room due to the pass through door. Might want to request a nonconnecting room. The rooms are small and pretty cramped but our bathroom was huge. And the room was clean.
There are cracks everywhere, and it concerned me that maybe the place is not really earthquake ready. But, we were there on a weekend, come Monday morning the construction started, and I realized that might be the source of the cracks. Until the construction is done, if you want to sleep past 6am, request to not be located on 13th.
The evening front desk staff is awesome - really helpful and efficient. Plus, they let us know that on weekends, there is no charge for street parking. So we parked out front. Perfect. Also, they are very close to the BART station.
All in all not a bad place, just okay. If the area works for you and you are okay with an older hotel, it would be an okay choice.More
