“Fun Place for Children”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

First time to visit this great attraction. The grand-children had a fantastic time. They loved petting and combing the goats. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. Grounds were clean and overall well laid out. Appreciated the fact that seniors and military get a nice discount. Will return the next time the grandchildren visit. Having the amusement rides was a real bonus; Kids had a great time and we got to take some nice photos. The only negative was the food; a little pricey and not as good as it could be. The food gets a 3 out of 5. Next time we will bring our lunch and use the zoo's picnic area.

“You Must Go & Hear The Lions Roar!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

I rated this just average because I really felt sorry for the elephants. They are in a cage that has very little trees and the grounds are very bare. I like monkeys but the cages when I went were dirty. It is good to see all the animals and is a great place for children to go visit ... to experience the different animals, sounds they make and how beautiful they are.

“A Child's Best Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

This zoo is very child friendly. There is a touch zoo with goats that children can brush and even a friendly dog to pet. The zoo is a great walk and my 2 year old granddaughter and I watch the monkeys and go over to see the elephants. The giraffes and elephants are kept in large areas, but you can still see them. Attached to the zoo is a great merry go round and a train that takes you to see the australian outback with emus and kangaroos. We love it so much we go every month and are members - which entitles you to free entrance, parking and admission. That way, you can drop in at any time without thinking about how long you have... A family favorite.

“Bay Area Zoo Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

A visit to the other zoo in the Bay Area. It is easy to get to, it is right off the freeway. I entered the zoo near the children's petting zoo which looked like it has been remodeled recently. Pick up a map as I got a little lost walking around. The zoo is located in a canyon area so bring good shoes and their are hills. It can also get warm compared to the other side of the bay. They have a ski lift and you get nice views of the bay. It goes up the hill and then turns around. You can see how big the zoo is. They have a lot of space for growth. Unlike other zoos I have been to, they do not have a large selection of animals but they have the enough to keep kids happy. They have the usual tigers and giraffes which kids are always looking for. I had a quick lunch here. Save your appetite, the food was average tasting at zoo prices. Their is a little park outside the front entrance that has rides and a train ride. It looked interesting for kids.

“Love this zoo!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We have moved out of the area, so only get to the Oakland Zoo ocassionally. When we do, we are always reminded of what a great zoo it is! Many of the habitats are close to natural; the park itself is lovely.
