I have gone to two musical event here, and two plays. Great visibility, but poor sound for big music affairs. Would not go to a music event unless they upgrade the sound systems. Loud, but poor quality for music.

Awesome experience! The Paramount, is such a beautiful theater and the atmosphere inside the theater was fun and exciting. There are many restaurants near the theater. We were worried about finding a paring space, but there is plenty of street parking.

I always look forward to a performance at the Oakland Paramount. This ultra grand theatre always gives me goose-bumps when entering the main foyer. If you're lucky there will be an organist before the show and during intermission playing the mighty Wurlitzer.
My last visit was to experience Dia de los Muertos celebration, "Luna Mexicana" with the collaboration of the Oakland Ballet AND the Ballet Folklorico Mexico Danza. This was a unique experience seeing two totally different genres working as a team. It was a thrilling show with precision dancing with colorful video projections. Can't wait to see the Oakland Ballet in this year's Nutcracker.

I was with my senior group and we had arranged a docent tour of the Paramount Theatre.
It is a Beautiful Art Deco Theatre. I learned so much about about this lovely place. The acoustics are amazing. The history is amazing. It truly was a destination place in the 30’s, as well as today.
I highly recommend you see the Paramount. You will not be disappointed.
Afterwards we had lunch at Lake Chalet at Lake Merritt. Also very good.

This is a beautifully restored theater that harkens to the glory of the 1930's and still induces wonder. It has high ceilings with gold ornamentation, a curving staircase, gilded light fixtures, ornate carvings and inlays on the walls, and beautiful draperies. You can take a tour of the Theater on the first and third Saturdays of each month (excluding holidays) or attend the Oakland East Bay Symphony, the Oakland Ballet, or innumerable concerts. We saw Smokey Robinson and it was a full-on community event. Definitely an "event" to enjoy!
