“A pleasant waterfront park”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

This is a very nice waterfront park, great for residents to relax and enjoy a nice day. But there is not a lot to this park to draw tourists from outside. The farmers market was similar to the one in my home town (20K people), but by 2:45 most of the vendors were pretty much packed up.

One thing I would recommend for tourists or those living to the east that may want to visit San Francisco for the day is to drive to Jack London Square and take the ferry over to the SF ferry terminal or Pier 41. It is a beautiful trip and saves a lot of parking hassles and expenses. As of today, the ferry is about $6.50 each way and the parking is $7 for twelve hours.

Oakland has quite a reputation as a very dangerous town, but I did not feel at all unsafe there and had no problems with my car in the parking lot.

I will say that the signage to get to I-80 upon leaving the area is quite poor and needs to be improved.

“Safe Part of Town”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

But, not much to do. They have 7 restaurants, a hotel or two, a theater, and the ferry that crosses the Bay between Oakland and San Francisco. Other than that, I don't know what the draw is...

“Lots to see in the area”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

It is a great location to have as a base of seeing the Oakland and surrounding area. There are restaurants to select based on your interests. The movie theater is close by as well as other shops to visit and help the local economy.

“Beautiful location!!!”

We enjoyed walking around Jack London Sq. It's right on the bay! There is a great Farmer's Market on Sunday morning! We took the ferry from there into San Francisco. What a beautiful ride!

“Open fresh space with some good pub type eateries”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

Walking down to the waterfront is wonderful with a large boulevard and some nice eateries with inside/outside seating. We went on a hot night and had great pizzas and dips. Be warned that you may have to wait we had a 20 min wait and we're told 45 min wait for at table at another restaurant so book before hand.
Sunday morning has a great fresh produce market and I bought beets and potatoes, cherries and apricots that had been picked that day. An ask the chef stand had helpful tips on how to cook some veggies with recipe cards. Ferry to SF is a good way to get there and the many waterfront cranes and storage bins integrated well as you knew you were at a working port.
