Belotti Ristorante is an intimate little eating establishment located on College Avenue in Oakland. Our reservation was on a Tuesday at 5:00 PM and we were able to find on street parking directly across the street, a convenient 100 foot walk to the restaurant. For our appetizer we chose Battuta, a delightful, unique beef dish served as a spread which by the menu description consisted of “hand cut certified Piedmontese ribeye dry aged beef tartare, carasau bread, parmigiano reggiano, micro arugula, aged balsamic, truffle caviar, quail egg yolk.” It was served with a very thin cracker that you broke and then spread the Battuta on it. For our entrees, the wife and I ordered the Papardelle and I the Casoncelli, pasta dishes that were absolutely delicious. For dessert we had coconut sorbet, the most creamy, delicious frozen dessert we have had at any restaurant. We had told the maître d’ that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, so the restaurant comped one of our desserts, and gave us a warm sendoff as we departed. Consistent with the many positive reviews we had read, this restaurant is very special, with delicious food and very prompt, courteous service. We will be back.
