“OK and close to Yosemite”
Reviewed October 10, 2006

This hotel is probably the best accomodation in Oakhurst but we found the staff to be very grumpy and unhelpful and the room quite dark. The setting of the hotel is nice though and you are only 15 minutes from the closest Yosemite entrance.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night, after leaving Yosemite N.P. I I had booked one of the family suites in advance, since that was all that was left to reserve. Since it was just my fiancee and I, we didn't need this big of a suite and I mentioned that at check in. I asked for a smaller room, but since none were available, since the hotel ws full. The check - in clerk actually took about $30 off the price of the room, to make it reasonably priced. I was psyched. This hotel is set up in a variety of buildings on the side of a mountain. The rooms were reasonably clean and there was plenty of parking. It looked like there were a lot of extras like a nice pool, exercise room and laundry facilities there, unfortunately we didn't have time to use any of them at all. There were multple restaurants within walking distance, we ended up going to the place next to the hotel If we were passing through here again, we would definately stay here. Only disappointment was that there was no continental breakfast...

We stayed at the gateway for 2 nights in september. The hotel is clean and the rooms are really spacious with a fridge, microwave, iron and good sized tv. Yosemite is about an hour away but there is a place called Bass Lake 8 miles away well worth a visit. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Stayed here for two nights on a tour of California, Utah.

Great budget hotel, considering the price rooms where basic, but clean and spacious for the four of us with a fridge and small kitchen area and two separate bedroom/living areas. Rooms are located in separate blocks or about 8 units.

We where located in a block at the top of the steep hill, which felt dark and a little isolated at night.

I laughed at another’s reviewers comment about the lobby, yes it is kind of weird and outdated. Service was respectful but by no means friendly.

Breakfast in the restaurant attached to the hotel was awful - avoid and the paintings added to the depressing décor. But there are plenty of food options in this really nice little town so go explore.

If you want to visit Yosemite and not pay the earth we would recommend this hotel, you can be at the park entrance in 30 mins.

Just got back from a California outing... usually stay at Holiday Inns or Marriott related hotels, but there were none in Oakhurst, so I took the advice of TripAdvisor and stayed at Best Western. Haven't always had great luck with BW, but this was an exception. The hotel was very nice, the front desk staff was extremely pleasant. The rooms were roomy and clean, with a nice balcony where you could sit and watch hummingbirds! The restaurant adjacent to the hotel had very good food, especially breakfast at 10% off... great location near one of the most beautiful places in the word... Yosemite! I would recommend and plan to return to this hotel in the future!

We stayed at the Best Western Gateway for two nights in early September. It was our first stop on a twelve day tour of California. We were pleasantly surprised at our room. It was very large with a small sitting area, vaulted ceilings, and a ceiling fan. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant next door. (they give you a coupon for 10% off breakfast). The lobby was nice and location good. We did not use the pool. The hotel is about 15 miles from the entrance to Yosemite but it is about a 45 minute drive on winding roads to the main area of the park. Driving back to the hotel after a long day of hiking was a little challenging. I would recommend this hotel. The price was fair and rooms better than expected.

We slept in this hotel for a night early august 2006. The hall is very nice, with fountains and great decoration. Rooms are also very comfortable and clean. a good choice if you are visiting Yosemite Park and do not necessarily are interested in sleeping inside the park. I would definitely come back.
