Room was very big & we had a rollaway in there. Tons of room in bathroom area - very large. Hotel was nice, very clean and would recommend. My only problem with the area is there's nothing to do in the evening. Once back from Yosemite, if you want to take a walk after dinner, really nowhere to go - no sidewalks - or town to walk around. Maybe everyone is so exhausted from the park they just sleep the night away...........

I just did a one week stay in and around Yosemite. Oakhust was my first 2 nights stay. Oakhurst is a great little town with all the conveniences you will not have in the park. The Best Western was clean, comfortable (the wife loved the memory foam mattress) and very affordable. Parking is easy, and there are plenty of dining options in town. We had no need for any service so I can't rate that. Check-in was fast and easy. 50 minute drive to Glacier Pt or the Valley.

Stayed at the Best Western for 2 nights in July. We had a room in one of the older blocks, it was ok very dark and old fashioned but clean and the aircon was very decent . Also had a large fridge which was handy. It looks as though some of the blocks are much newer so try and ask for one of those rooms.

The hotel has a good outdoor pool, the indoor one is a bit grubby looking though. The hotel is a good base for visiting the park, it takes about 20mins to get to the park gate, then about another 30mins drive to get to the valley floor. Definately make the effort to drive up to glacier point, it takes quite a while but is well worth it for the view!

We didn't eat at the resturant next to the hotel but we did get take out pizza from the pizza place next to the cinema which was good, there are also a KFC, Macdonalds, Subway, Starbucks etc and there are quite a few mediocre looking resturants. There are also 2 supermarkets which we found handy.

We stayed here 7-9-06 and 7-10-06. This hotel was a good value for being 14 miles from the south entrance of Yosemite National Park. The outdoor pool is very clean and refreshing, the staff was friendly and helpful (except for the older desk guy Hank or Harold...more on him later), the room was small and the decor was a little outdated. The indoor pool was gross and looked like a huge fish tank that hadn't been cleaned in a while. We we're in the middle of an 11 day trip so we had planned to do some laundry and they have a laundry facility on site that was great. Bring your quarters because "Hank" at the front desk acted like it was the first time someone ever asked him for change before and got a little irritated. He was one of those guys who acted like he complained about everything. And don't dare asking him for directions or making small talk as he wants no part of it. He's about 55-60 with longer greyish hair and has this creepy look in his eyes as if he's ready to "Soprano" someone. I called the front desk hoping that someone else would answer one day but wouldn't you know that "Harold" was there. I asked for 4 new towels since we went to the pool and he simply said, you are going to have to come down to the desk to get them. This was 3pm in the afternoon !!!!!!! And the hotel is on a hill so there are hotel golf carts all over the place. Why couldn't he call someone to run a few towels up to us?.....They don't have continental breakfast but do have an arrangement with the Italian restaurant next door for 10% off your breakfast which is nice since the food there is actually pretty good.

I would have rated this a 4 or 5 if the decor was updated, the toxic indoor pool was clean and if they gave "Hank" or "Harold" a nice retirement package.

I'll echo the other glowing reviews. Our room was much nicer than I expected for the money. The staff was friendly. The grounds were a garden. The on-property restaurant was very good; even the staff there was exceptionally friendly. A+ all the way.

A time warp!! The reception building and front of the complex looks very modern and shiny but if you are not in a room in that building, you step right back into the seventies. Our room was very dark (we needed the lights on all of the time) and smelly (we had asked for a non-smoking room but got saddled with a smoking room instead - they were fully booked so we couldn't change). The feeling of the whole room was that it was a little tired and needed a revamp.

The bed was comfortable but the headboard has a stupid design so that if you are sitting up reading and leaning against it, your head ends up being at a funny and painful angle. The towels that were provided were clearly old and rather scratchy and the toiletries were dispensed via a little machine in the shower area (we were glad to have brought our own). There was a laundromat in the complex which was good and the Velvet Rose/Sandrino restaurant provided a good value breakfast.

Oakhurst itself was pretty interesting!! There are all of the main food chains there - Taco Bell, McDonalds, Subway etc but very few decent restaurants to eat in. We went out to eat once (to the Szechan place next door which was fairly good) but the alternate choices were so poor that we ended up with sandwiches for the other two evenings.

Oakhurst is about 16 miles to the park and is well positioned for seeing the most accessible parts of the Park (Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove). Yosemite Valley has the most stunning scenery that I have ever witnessed and the Mariposa Grove has some wonderful trails for exploring

This was a great hotel for our recent trip to Yosemite National Park, we stayed two nights. I was a little concerned about the 2 star rating since we had a small child, but I was very happily surprised. As with others that have reviewed this hotel, it was perfect for us. Decent sized room, friendly staff, big bathroom, microwave, and fridge, and clean most imoportantly!! The price was great too compared to the hotels closer to the park. It's close to grocery, food, coffee, etc. which is great for families, and it gives you some options too. If you need a place to stay so you can explore Yosemite, this is a great hotel. It's about a 15-20 minute windy drive to the entrance gates of the park, but that's still pretty convenient for the price savings. I felt comfortable, safe and very excited about our exploring the park.
