We stayed at the Evergreen Haus during the 1st two days of our honeymoon trip and were simply blown away from the moment we arrived. We rented the Sequoia and the pictures that Eddie has posted on his web site just don't do the place justice - a super king size bed in a large room with a dual-head walk-in shower and a walk-in closet. Eddie has put a great deal of effort into the house and all his hard work shows in the details - even freshly picked wild flowers in the bathroom. All the furnishings are comfortable and fit with the beautiful house.

Eddie, the owner and host, is very knowledgeable about Yosemite and was able to guide us in the right direction to make the best use of the limited time we had there. The Evergreen Haus is definitely a great value and we would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quiet stay.

Room Tip: The Sequoia room is on the far end of the house, away from the front door and common areas.

My wife, my cousin, and her family all stayed at Evergreen Haus while visiting Yosemite NP. Eddie was a fantastic host and extremely knowledgeable about the area. The house was very comfortable and an enjoyable place to stay. The Oakhurst location is perfect - an easy drive to Yosemite with all of the amenities of Oakhurst. We will absolutely, definitely return when we visit Yosemite again.

Evergreen Haus is a unique ,large ,timber lodge ,currently offering 2 spacious bedrooms with own bathrooms ( soon to be 4 ) and sharing large comfortable lounge, dining and kitchen area and including laundry facilities ( great for the traveller). The outside deck overlooks beautiful pine covered mountains perfect for a late afternoon wine or beer. The lodge is situated about 10 miles from the South entrance gate of Yosemite NP and about a 10 minute drive to Oakhurst for cheap gas and Raleys great supermarket. Also close to Bass Lake,a lovely family spot.We enjoyed it, because we were able to cook at home for ourselves( so tired of eating in diners whilst travelling) and also because it was not situated amoungst all the heavy tourist traffic of Yosemite and so we didn't mind the extra drive. Our host Eddy was excellent, helping us with local expertise and advice on what to see and do at Yosemite and locally.Very much appreciated.Thank you Eddy! We met the owner, Eddie, by phone before heading to Oakhurst/Yosemite from L.A. Sadly for us they had no vacancies, but after a great conversation we wanted to meet him in person and see the property. So glad we did.

He has just opened this brand new B&B. The property is just beautiful. Rustic, woodsy, very Yosemite-esq. He basically rebuilt an old historic property utilizing much of the original wood, modernizing the inside while keeping the old-timey feel. Beautiful rooms and bathrooms with modern conveniences. The "Great Room" is exactly that-- a huge, stunning room with 2-story fireplace, beautiful wood floors, French doors all around opening onto a huge, covered, panoramic wood deck with comfortable seating, and a nice new kitchen for the guests' use.

The current two rooms are good-size and each has private French doors that open onto a patio (or private patio in the case of the Sequoia Room.) He is currently adding two more rooms for a total of four, hoping to be open for Memorial Day 2013.

It is up on a quiet hillside, surrounded by trees and greenery, just five minutes outside Oakhurst toward Yosemite. They do not serve breakfast but they do offer all sorts of pre-packaged food (waffles, oatmeal, cereals, Pop Tarts, juice, etc.) and use of the new kitchen and all its modern appliances. His room rates are very fair, and Eddie is a great family man, looking to make this a good experience for everyone who stays there. We like him a lot.

I suspect Evergreen Haus will be filled to capacity as much as he wants it to be once word gets out! So reserve soon!

Room Tip: The Sequoia Room is spacious, but it's pretty hard to go wrong here! Th 2 new rooms will be a bi...

We have traveled a lot and stayed in various places from fancy hotels to cabins, and this is one of the most special places we have ever stayed in. First of all, the hosts have worked so hard to create a place that truly is memorable and enjoyable for their guests. Eddie (who we mainly interacted with) is the real deal that is so hard to find in the travel industry nowadays; he truly cares about his guests and wants them to have the best vacation possible and he goes above and beyond to make sure they do!
The other reviews and the pictures on the website give you an indication of how lovely the bedrooms and the great room are, and they are even better in person. You can feel the care that has gone into every detail: from dreamy pillow top beds, silky sheets, beautiful furniture, to mini-refrigerators and coffee makers in each room. The great room is a gorgeous high ceiling room with a fireplace that Eddie built himself and it is so relaxing to sit there and watch the flames dance. The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to cook all our meals there which was an incredible benefit because we are on a special diet and cannot easily eat out. Then there is the spacious deck with gorgeous views of the mountain forest and a perfect place for nighttime stargazing. Our children jumped to their hearts' content on the trampoline and enjoyed the playstructure in the spacious backyard.
Having young children of his own, Eddie was very sweet with our children, answering their questions and even finding the perfect show for them to watch. The Yosemite decor and information throughout helps to maximize your experience of the natural treasures nearby. I especially loved the selection of Yosemite videos that he often plays in the great room, inspiring us to go explore on our own. And of course, Eddie is ready to offer suggestions and tips to help you maximize your time and have the experiences you want.
Compared to much of what is available in the area, this place is an amazing deal for all that you get, but beyond that, it is also simply a treasure to stay in a place that is run by people with so much heart. Thank you Eddie and family!
**It is hard to sum up what a treasure the Haus is, but I feel the reviews here, do give an honest telling, so I recommend reading them too!**

Room Tip: We stayed in both rooms. The Redwood (smaller) room is perfect for a couple, being very cozy, warm a...

I am not surprised that this cabin has all excellent reviews already! We just spent Christmas 2012 at this newly-opened cabin and LOVED it! As a single mom, I wanted to give my daughter a Christmas to remember and her wish was to have a quiet Christmas in a cabin in the snow, along with a fireplace to snuggle in front of and gingerbread cookies to make. Everything she wished for came true, plus the price was so affordable. I've never seen this type of establishment, a cabin that is rented by the room, but it was the only place we found that worked with our budget, and I was AMAZED at the quality offered for the price. There were one-room cabins for the same price, but with other costs added to them, so we couldn't even afford them! This one was perfect. The bedrooms themselves are large enough to be comfortable in for long periods of time, with king size beds, big screen tvs, electric fireplaces, full bathrooms, coffee supplies, refrigerators, etc. But then there was also the communal great room with the awesome fireplace, comfy furniture and full kitchen! And breakfast foods are included! Just unbelievable. Eddie couldn't guarantee us snow for Christmas, but we found it only five minutes up the road, so we were happy. Then overnight it snowed at the cabin and that just made our trip even better. My daughter spend an hour outside taking photos of all the wonderful nature surrounding us, made even more beautiful with the snow, and the view of the mountains from the deck was spectacular. Our plan was just to enjoy a quiet Christmas at the cabin and we most certainly did, but we could have taken advantage of Bass Lake and Yosemite being so close! We are looking forward to one day coming back in warmer weather and enjoying these too. Eddie has put a LOT of work into this cabin and is very proud of it and I am so happy to have found such a place. He was an awesome host and anything we needed that we couldn't find, he brought to us....even the use of his laptop for a recipe I had forgotten to print. I truly believe we could not have found a better place - it is worth much more than the cost - and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone coming to this area.

Room Tip: Both rooms available at this time are large, livable rooms that include a full bathrooms, table, cha...

We stayed for 2 nights Oct 23/24, 2012 in order to visit Yosemite/Sierra Mtns.
- Location: The Haus is about 15min away from the southern entrance and was very actually very easy to find (even in the dark).
- Host: Eddie Rainwater is about the nicest person you will ever run into. He gave us great tips to help plan traveling and knows all the attractions that are off the beaten path (eg: swimming holes etc etc)
- Amenities: Although listed as a B&B, this is technically not one as Evergreen Haus does not serve breakfast BUT the plus side is that you can use the fully equipped kitchen to cook whatever you like for breakfast/lunch/dinner which is hugely convenient; by regulation, regular B&B's aren't allowed to give guests access to anything more than coffee maker and fridge. The cupboards are filled with various dry goods (cereals, pancake mixes, coffee, peanut butter, popcorn etc) and fridge has condiments/jams and frozen waffles. Kitchen access aside, there are 2 rooms in the inn, both with private baths and new furniture including enourmous, comfortable beds and big closets. The overall build/decor of the inn is what I imagine Paul Bunyon would also rate as 5/5 stars - exposed wood beams, wood floors, high ceilings, big leather couches, fire place, wood deck, grill on the deck, deer and bear on the 2 acres of wooded grounds etc.
- Cost: definitely worth the listed price, way better than any hotel deal

Bonus: there is Verizon cell phone reception in Oakhurst, we drove through Mariposa and did not have reception the entire time...
