Cozy ATMOSPHERE: small room, dim on Saturday night with candle on table, masks, trumpet, saxophone on wall, quiet enough to chat.
Distinctive MENU, not very long, but with enough variety (sausage, pork, chicken, seafood...) and creativity to tantalize all five of us.
The BAGUETTE slices were lightly crunchy and hot.
The SHRIMP & CRAWFISH SOUP of the day was thick and tasty, not too salty but just right.
My RED BEANS AND RICE WITH ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE had boring plain white rice, basic mild red beans (partly mushed, fine with me) and very lightly spicy andouille sausage (not so special, but at least it wasn't too spicy), and the half I took home was perfect for breakfast on Sunday.
My hubby's BLACKENED CATFISH was perfect: cooked perfectly, so spicy it set my mouth on fire until I had a bite of my own plain mild beans and rice. His risotto was creamy, cheesy, tasty.
WINE LIST allowed those who wanted a glass of wine to have choices of good ones.
A local friend recommended this place for us visitors to treat others and it was perfect, affordable yet refined.
