Description: You wouldn't expect to run across the bigger than life flavors of New Orleans in a little mountain town just south of Yosemite National Park, but that's exactly what you'll find at Woody's New Orleans West in Oakhurst, CA. Woody himself is in the kitchen dishing up New Orleans favorites like Jambalaya and Etouffee, all set against the backdrop of the Sierras. Along with traditional New Orleans favorites Woody serves some special creations of his own, drawing from his exposure to cuisines from all over the world. Unique dishes like the Spicy Crawfish Balls and Mardi Gras Pasta have Yosemite locals coming back for more. Woody's New Orleans West offers the best of all worlds: Southern food with a global flair, sophisticated cuisine in a mom-and-pop atmosphere where you'll really become one of the family. Take a couple minutes to look over our menu and get ready to travel into the heart of the South while in the mountains just outside of Yosemite.

This is easily our favorite place in Oakhurst, and we've eaten everywhere. Choose the soup with dinner, it's always excellent. The desserts are very good too.

Definitely not a place that skimps on portions! Food was tasty and wholesome, slightly curious substitution of salmon for more typical Gulf fare used in Cajun cooking, but it worked. Only regret was ordering a starter - way too much food!

My sister was having her birthday during the end of our Yosemite stay so we happened upon Woody's N.O.W. (New Orleans West) based on online reviews. We were a large group of hungry hikers ready to have some celebratory comfort food and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is on the small side but they accommodated our group of nine and service was friendly from beginning to end. We started off with the fried crab balls in spicy cream sauce as well as the sauteed mushrooms... mmm, mmm, mmm! Each of us ordered something different as you will see in our photos. Everything burst with flavor and definitely made my sister happy on her birthday. I will try to include a copy of the menu.

Oakhurst was blazing hot that night but they had AC pumping and the lights were dim so we had a comfortable dinning experience. Can't complain about the decor. They had mardi gras masks, bead necklaces, and brass instruments hanging about so it was interesting for the kids. We had four boys ages 6 to 16 who all like/play instruments so that caught their attention. My only 'thing' is we sat right next to the kitchen and the door was not covered so the hanging pots and kitchen sink was visible. Maybe that's part of the country charm. No big deal.

We will definitely eat here again if in the area.
