“Great Location, But Needs Help”
Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here and planned to enjoy their continental breakfast. There were no tables to sit at and eat. We had to sit in the lobby area with everyone else on couches or lobby chairs and use the low coffee tables. Very uncomfortable. Also, the area where the food was stationed was very crowded. One of the cereal dispensers was totally blocked by the milk container and there was nowhere to move it; so you couldn't get that cereal. Luckily, there's a Denny's a few yards from the hotel which many people used.
If you want to stay here request a room on the top floor because it's hard to get a goodnight sleep with people above you walking around at all hours.

My fiance and I just recently stayed at this hotel and were deeply dissatisfied. There was hair in the shower, flies in the room, and writing on the walls; it was filthy. The walls were paper thin and we heard people talking throughout the whole night. Our room walked out to the pool where people were swimming and hanging out until 10pm. We could not open our blinds because random people were sitting right outside the sliding glass door. This was extremely obnoxious and we were unable to relax. We did not want to make a scene with the front desk staff so on multiple occasions throughout the 24 hours we were there, we attempted to discuss the issue with the manager but he/she was never available. All of the above made us cut our trip short. Despite all of this, they refused to give us a refund or any money back for that matter. DO NOT STAY HERE. Avoid at all costs.

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

No, not happy. The hotel is big on saving their own money, so our very pricey room was very bare bones, with a sink faucet in need of a washer, aged coffee pods which produced a weak brown water instead of java, a pitiful and in some ways revolting "continental" breakfast and, worst of all, a gizmo on the heating/cooling control which prevented our muggy hot room from EVER cooling. This made sleeping miserable and mostly impossible, and added unbearable levels of humidity after a shower because this place is also too cheap to have a bathroom fan. And our room cost nearly $190 per night. Yes, we feel swindled.

Overall property was good for price. Very quiet since we were on the top floor. Staff was efficient and friendly. Furnishings are dated but very clean and within 15 miles of Yosemite entrance. Breakfast was ok, but a 20% discount at Denny's helps if you want a big breakfast. Rate for the time of year we visited was fair.

Room Tip: Top floor to avoid lobby noise.

I first stayed in this hotel when it was the Shilo Inn quite a few years ago and to be honest it looks exactly as it did then apart from new tvs. The staff were very pleasant, the hotel was clean and breakfast was adequate but the place needs a refurb as it looks dated and old. For the money we paid I would expect much much more.

The staff was friendly and welcoming on check-in, and very helpful with dining recommendations. Our room was clean and bright. The pool and surrounding area was also immaculate. Would definitely recommend as a great family hotel. Only about 15 minutes from Yosemite gate.
