My husband and I stopped here on the spur of the moment as we were traveling from the Eastern Sierra to the Monterey Peninsula after our Yosemite vacation. We weren't expecting much, it's a chain hotel among numerous other chain hotels in Oakdale, but we were pleasantly surprised.
The room was quiet and clean and spacious. The hotel looked new. The common areas including the pool were immaculate. The breakfast room steward kept the tables and serving areas clean even during the rush in the morning. (My husband wanted me to mention he really really liked the cinnamon rolls.)
Of note, both of the desk clerks (managers?) who were there the evening we checked in and the next morning, greeted us as whenever we passed by and asked if everything was to our liking. The folks that work here definitely take pride in running the place.
The only minor flaw is a pet peeve of mine and that is the a/c. I like a unit where the fan runs continuously when in the air conditioning mode. Here, the mechanism would turn off between air conditioning cycles. The noise as it turned on and off during the night was quieter than most, but was a slight distraction. But, to give it it's due, the temps were in the 90s and the room stayed cool.More
