We live just a few blocks from Cigale, so we have eaten there several times. It is a wonderful place for a high-quality yet inexpensive lunch. Our most recent visit was dinner with two friends. We brought a bottle of 1990 Cabernet Sauvignon. Our waiter decanted the wine and handled the service of the wine in an excellent fashion. Corkage was only $10.

The dinners were uniformly very good - pasta dishes, beef and fish. The bread is very good with a nice olive tapenade brought to the table as part of the complimentary service. Their wine list is so-so, but there are a few nice selections - they focus on lesser known and inexpensive wines.

One of our favorite area restaurants in Cigale Cafe. The chef is also the owner, and he takes great pride in the food he cooks. The chef is French, so you will find many French favorites, but the menu offers something for everyone, as well as multiple daily specials. On Saturday, I had a special whitefish with pesto oil on top of tasty vegetables. My husband had a signature pasta and chicken dish. Both were delicious. The staff is very attentive and helpful; they always take exceptional care of us. The prices are reasonable for food of this quality. I highly recommed Cigale Cafe.

Our third time dining at Cafe Cigale. Good service and great food at amazingly affordable prices. You won't feel like you have to break the bank to dine well. They give you French fries to nibble on and warm bread with tampenade. We had the beef bourgoinne on one of our visits and it did not disappoint. The onion soup was classic, very rich and flavorful. On our most recent visit, my husband and I both ordered a pasta dish. The clams were fresh and pasta cooked al dente. The dishes were served from stove to table. For desert, we have previously tried the chocolate meringue fudge cake and most recently, the pear tart ala mode, no complaints about those either! A bottle of wine, two entrees, a side ceasar, onion soup, a desert and 2 cappuccinos around $100!

Our dinner on a Saturday night was perfect from the moment we walked in until we left, near closing time. Our waitress was on top of the specials and constantly made sure we were well served by her helping staff. We decided to stick with just appetizers and a salad, which was more than enough. We enjoyed the salmon tartare with capers very much, although they could have added crackers or other to enjoy the very thin strips. The mussels and clams were excellent in their own broth, but the escargot were exceptional. We got a house Malbec that went very nicely with our feast of appetizers and my wife loved the "special of the day" salad. We enjoyed the ambiance as it was quiet enough to enjoy our conversation and dinner. Next time we will hit an entry, but we weren't hungry enough to go with a full meal.

it was my son's 18 brthday, and after seeing Julie/Julia thought he'd like to make beef bourgoinne. We looked on-line and saw cigales, the closest french restaurant that served this dish and had good reviews. We were not disappointed. Everyone in our party of four had a different meal, appetizer, salad and soup. they were all excellent. I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion.
