“Great Food”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

We had a wide range of food in the group and all was happy. I had the fish on garlic best in along time. Their was a carnival in the town square so things were very busy but service, food and prices were all great.

“Excellent, as always”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

Maya Palenque is known as "First Exit Mexican" or "FEM" to the racing community as it's located at the first exit back on 101 on the way back from Sears Point / Sonoma Raceway. An outstanding place to stop after a hard day of racing or wrenching, have a cold beer and hot plate of the most delicious mexican food. Normally packed wall-to-wall after a race weekend!

“Like Abuelita Used To Make”
Reviewed June 10, 2012

Everyone has an idea of "good Mexican food," but when you ARE Latin, the bar is forever set at "like Abuelita (tr.: grandmother, dim.) used to make." I love going to Maya Palenque when I want real refried pinto beans. In a world gone mad for whole and black bean options, it is actually hard to get real refrieds in a restaurant setting. (Don't worry the others are available, too.) The Rice is equally "classic." The tomatillo salsa (green) is addictive and you could find yourself wanting to make a meal out of just chips. Another classic, and all-too-rare offering is actual shredded beef in the tacos. I have to admit, the sequined velvet sombreros hung on the walls bring back fond memories of Olvera Street and El Mercado in the L.A. area, but this is not merely a nostalgic choice--Maya Palenque is a good choice for the food. Not to mention they are known to have SF Giants games on at full volume, avoiding that baseball-by-muzak effect in other places that have sports on screens. Go for lunch.
