“Excellent place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014

Just spent 10 days at this location to recoup after surgery at Hoag Hospital. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. The price charged for this location was excellent. The beach is across the street and there is a great choice of restaurants within walking distance. We stayed in the newly remodeled Handicap accessible room and it was perfect for our needs. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed here for 3 nights, very nice. Great location right across from the beach and parking is Included, parking in the Newport area turned out to be a pain. We did NOT rent bikes but that looked like the way to get around. The hotel has beach towels/boogie boards/ a few chairs/umbrellas for guests to use for free. The room has 2 queen beds and the sink/bathroom area was quite spacious.
This is not a luxury resort but it is by far the best value. I would go back again.
On a side note: We ran into a few restaurants that only took cash, it was a little strange in this day and age that debit or credit cards not accepted.

This is absolutely our new go-to hotel in Newport Beach. We had looked at this place before but thought it may be too far away from the Crab Cooker. Not at all. This location is actually far preferable over hotels nearer Newport Pier. It is close enough to walk or bike all the way to the Wedge (Newport Harbor) but distant enough to be a calmer, cleaner area of beach and neighborhood. It’s also located just a stone’s throw from at least two fabulous restaurants.
The previous reviews are spot-on regarding the terrific staff. We met three different people during our stay and they were all friendly, efficient and professional.
The hotel room itself was clean (most important) and surprisingly spacious. AC worked great, water pressure was great and the toilet and shower are separated from sink (handy). The room also had a good size (mini) fridge and a microwave.
The hotel supplies everything you could need for the beach, towels, chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards. Really a nice touch. We brought out own bikes but there is a bike rental right next door that had a pretty steady stream of customers for the 3 days we visited.
The hotel also has a nice upstairs deck with lounge chairs, tables, etc. Even the parking was impressive (availability and space wise).
There is no doubt we will stay here every time we return to Newport Beach; this place is a real find!

Love this place. Right across from the beach. It's a no frills place but very clean and nice staff. There's a bicycle rental place right next door and we rented bikes for cheap. 24 hours for $15.00. Also a great little restaurant next door serves pretty good breakfast. Friendly atmosphere.

The room was very clean, and I am very particular on cleanliness. We had room 227 and it was very quiet and looked out over a little park. The motel is old but updates had been made. Only one block from the beach and plenty of restaurants within walking distance. This is a great bargain and sure to please families that want to spend time at the beach as they furnish towels, chairs, umbrellas and body boards. I would highly recommend for an affordable place to stay.

Room Tip: Far end of hotel is away from the street noise. Room 227 was very quiet.

Perfect little hotel if you just want to stay at the beach in Newport without spending a ton of money. The hotel lets you borrow beach towels, beach chairs and body boards. A walk across the street and you are at the beach. Rooms are clean and updated. Ours had a microwave and a refrigerator. The hotel is located on busy PCH, so bring earplugs if you need them to sleep.

During one of my work trips to the west coast, I had a chance to partake in a little beach time on the weekend. My friend and I decided to head down to Newport Beach to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown LA. My friend found the Newport Channel Inn for the night we stayed. It’s located about a quick 5-minute walk from the beach and was a great deal at $159 a night (Note: This was the AAA rate, it would have been $169 otherwise. Prices do vary as well depending on the weekend).

For a little motel on the side of the road, this little inn is a great value and a very good option if you’re staying in the area. As I mentioned before the walk to the beach is 5 minutes, and you’re a 15 minute drive or less to the mall, Crystal Cove State Park, and plenty of restaurants.

Not only is the place in a good location, the staff there is very friendly (I’m pretty sure it’s family run). The inn offers beach towels, chairs, and boogie boards for the guests and the staff are more than willing to help with any needs you may have. For example, I lost my cell phone charger and went to the front to see if there was a Radio Shack nearby. There was one which the staff member told me about, but before I went, he went to the back and came back with a box of chargers and said that I could have any one of them if they fit (A LOT of people leave behind their chargers apparently).

The one knock I have on the place is that the A/C (at least in the room that we stayed in) points right at the bed which is a tad uncomfortable. So you’re either super hot, or have a cold blast in your face. Regardless, I still recommend this place as a good value stay if you’re at Newport Beach. It’s nothing special, but the location and staff make it worth it.
