This property has so many pluses--outstanding lobby and valet service, 3 pools, a water slide (that our granddaughter loved!), shuffleboard, ping pong, restaurant, lovely indoor/outdoor bar, and location. The down side is that they don't advertise the activities and their restaurant and bar in the rooms; you have to wander around and figure it out for yourself! I expected something in the room telling about the hotel, the pools and water slide, the restaurant and the surrounding area--but the small folder in the room only gave the barest basics. As we were leaving, I went online to their website and found a lovely description of the hotel and all the things to do at the hotel, as well as the surrounding area. This should be in the rooms, at your fingertips. The rooms are well set up. We stayed in the Balboa building, and the air filtration was great. I have allergies, but didn't choose the PURE rooms they offer, and still felt great all the time I was in the room. Impressive! We did have a problem with the restaurant and room service--they just couldn't seem to get our simple orders correct! The hotel did remove the charges, but having problems with the food service twice was disheartening. Overall, this is a lovely property that's very nicely located. Just needs some improvement in the restaurant service and better marketing of all they offer. We would return, especially now that we know all the fun they offer.

the rooms were small and still outdated even though they had been renovated, good for young families because it has a good pool area with a slide but still not really nice.
not a really nice Hyatt more like 3 stars. Some of the hotel looks like an old motel.
Staf was very nice and good location

Room Tip: a 3 star hotel and I thought it would be 4 star

The hotel location is very good. It had a resort feel with the golf course and three pools. There were couple of incidents made me feel like they are understaffed. The bellboy complaining about his knees wasn't very professional either. The hotel claims 15 million Dolar worth of renovations have been made. The hotel lobby is nice, rooms are ok the rest needs more work. Self parking is too far.

Stayed one night room 254 facing the back bay and Balboa Island in the distance. It is an older property but they have kept it current in room décor, gardens, pool, & restaurant. The staff were friendly and very helpful. This is a nice property and really quiet for being in the middle of busy Newport Beach.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the bay are the most quiet, rooms facing the pool have more ambient noise but lots is g...

The newly remodeled Hyatt Regency Newport Beach is an amazing get away. The property is beautiful, the rooms very well appointed. The grounds are park like, with three beautiful pools. Their Jazz Concert Series provides a great line up of live entertainment under the stars. And the food provided is top notch. Can't rave about this property enough. Highly recommend you give it a try. Bet you will be glad you did!

I have stayed at this property several times over the last few years, and always find it to be consistent in amenities, price, and property condition. I have relatives that have lived in Newport for years, and are yet to even know where for sure this property is (I believe it used to be called 'The Newporter', and locals still call it that). Nevertheless, it is absolutely easy access from the coast highway, Jamboree, Fashion Island and the back bay. The rooms are clean and nice, although not as luxurious as other Hyatt's. The green areas are welcoming with plenty of activities and little nooks to sit and relax. If you sneek out the back (service) entrance of the property on foot, you have low traffic access to an awesome walking/running trail that circles the back bay. I always use the valet, and have found them to be quick and eager to get your vehicle and help with directions.

I stayed here for a wedding for only one night. The area is great and the hotel offers shuttles to got you around, or you can rent bikes. They had a lot of great ideas to keep you busy. The room itself was nice and they were able to get us checked in early (12:30) which we needed as the shuttle for the wedding was picking us up at 3pm.

We decided to go have lunch at 12:45 while waiting for our luggage to be delivered to the room. I wish we had just taken it ourselves. Lunch took an hour and a half- it was very busy in the lobby bar and only one server was working. We rushed back to the room at 2:15 to get ready only to find out our bags still hadn't been delivered. After a phone call and some searching, our bags arrived at 2:45 - there was no way we could make the 3pm shuttle. We ended up having to pay for a taxi to take us. I think the hotel should have paid for it!

We enjoyed the hotel breakfast buffet the next morning, there was a nice selection of food and a nice patio to sit at while enjoying the California sunshine.

I would recommend the hotel, but if you are in a rush, you may want to handle your luggage yourself and order room service to the room.
