“Great location - service is slow”
Reviewed October 20, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

You couldn't have a better location, on the beach! But, we waited so long for breakfast that they closed down to change it over to lunch and it still took another 45 minutes to get food.

“4 stars due to setting”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

We have eaten at the Beachcomber several times over the years. The setting is very nice and it is great to have a decent restaurant to walk to after spending an afternoon on the beach at Crystal Cove State Park. The food is just OK. Somewhat inconsistent with some items being excellent (Seared Ahi in a Thai/Soy sauce with Coconut Rice) to bland (Clam Chowder and Crispy Calamari). Prices are on the high side but not outrageous. Service is decent but not outstanding. It is a beautiful place to watch the sun set especially on a clear day with Catalina in the background. I wish that they offered the lunch menu at dinner time since some of the sandwiches are excellent. They do accept reservations through Open Table and by phone but they need to be made by midnight the day before your planned visit.

“One of the few restaurants right on the beach”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

I've been coming here for years. Obviously, we loved it when it was a secret spot. The scenery is the real reason to come here. The quintessential California sunset. This is an engagement worthy location. You can also rent a little place directly on the beach here. Albeit it is very difficult to do as you must book in advance and it can be expensive.

On to the food. You've tried many many things here and have not been disappointed. The drink are really good. Mojitos being our favorite, and they are strong even if on the expensive side.

Arrive early, expect a wait during usual dinner times.

This is a nice place to linger.

There is a nice bar area, for which you don't need reservations. You can get a few drinks while waiting for your table. Or just get drinks :)

There is a good mix of locals (yes, very wealthy) but we never felt that people were snooty.

We adore this place. I'm sure I'll be coming for decades.

“On the Beach”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

It's all about being on the Beach. Somewhat typical "Bar Food" menu. Food was good and you pay for being on the beach. Worthwhile if you understand the parameters.
