Roy's seems inconsistent in terms of the quality and service. I've been there several times and have had good nights and not so good. Most recently went in for a late dinner and the server was not very friendly. The meal felt like it was just thrown together and frankly didn't taste much better than something I could have ordered from a PF Changs for half the price.
For an upscale Hawaiian themed restaurant they should do better. I think Roy's is a chain that has gotten too big and sacrificed quality as a result.

As Roy's offers great seafood at their restaurant, it can get pricey... I frequent their Happy Hour with my local friends, as it's one of our favorite Happy Hour spots on the Fashion Island rotation during the week days.

They is an extensive cocktail selection during happy hour, and I personally like the wines.

The sushi selection is good, but I always order my favorite Kobe beef sliders (consistently tender, juicy, hot, and fresh with crispy hot sweet potato fries) with a pinot noir or cab sauv. The quality of food and the happy hour special is fabulous deal to take advantage of.

It can get quite loud and crowded in the bar area, with seating on high top tables or bar. The service is always friendly, with a very casual lively atmosphere.

Since it's located within Fashion Island, you can conveniently valet or save a few bucks to self park.

Hint: Fleming's is only located 2 restaurants down, with a fabulous comparable delicious quality happy hour special too!!! ;-)

We were not sure what we wanted for Dinner so went to Roy's Happy Hour (Aloha Hour) for a drink and started there. Instead of two for one there is a great selection of cocktails and wines at only $6.90 and tasting plates at the bar were only $6.00. We ended up trying all of the bar food offerings over several discounted drinks and left two hours later very full and very satisfied.
We had various fusion rolls and tacos which were well presented and delicious and direct from the main kitchen but we doubled up on the Wagyu Sliders. Great night, at a surprisingly low cost with the opportunity to sample a well known kitchens offering in a very casual manner.

Went to Roy's in Newport Beach to meet some old friends for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the Aloha Happy Hour which includes $6 appetizers and cocktails from 4:30-6:30 pm nightly. Be sure to try the sushi as well as the lobster potstickers. Wash 'em down with a Hawaiian Martini.....delicious! The chocolate souffle is also excellent for sharing.

We brought about 20 guests here for a business dinner. The food was pretty good. The service was well intentioned, bright and cheery. Only one mistake with food orders, that the. Team tried to put right quickly. Overall pretty good and would recommend
