Used to come for years. Place now is more of a mess. Needs to be upgraded and updated to keep with the times. Food still ok but the experience is lack luster.

We have loved this place for years, and frequented it whenever we were in the vicinity of Fashion Island. However, on this past Sunday, we showed up around 3 p.m., and the place was a mess! It seems that taking down the brunch is a big deal, so seating is delayed, bar seating was a mess, etc. There were a bunch of open seats, but apparently not enough wait staff, so we had to wait for about fifteen minutes. We were then seated by a large family with a bunch of noisy kids, and people don't seem to control their kids in restaurants these days. Overall, a very unpleasant experience, with not too many apologies or accommodation from the staff. Food was ok, but ambience was trashed. We will definitely reconsider in the future. Too much money for such a subpar experience. Kinda ruined my Memorial Day Weekend!

El torito Grill is a slightly up-scale mexican restaurant. I love their Tomato soup and their sweat corn cakes. Their food has a unique twist to it, and it is very good.

Another overpriced Mexican restaurant. Ambience is akin to a chili's, food was no better and our waiter although very nice could barely speak English. Would prefer never to return.

We have enjoyed eating here every year, as I have the good fortune of traveling to Newport Beach every spring for an annual meeting.

It's easy to find, as it's near the Nordstrom's at the Fashion Island Mall.

The restaurant is very comfortable for couples, friends, and/or families.

However, my wife and I prefer the lounge, as we find it more relaxing to sit and enjoy a cocktail. We usually order one of their salads as they are so good. The Gilled Chicken Fajita Salad was quite delicious.

They also serve complimentary chips and salsa, which were very tasty.

We look forward to next year's visit.
