The Cannery is one of the place that you should not miss if you are visiting Newport Beach especially on Tuesday since they have a special price for a nice wine like 2009 Les Pavots at $145 which is at 50% discount from the normal price. The food is excellent, Crab cake is on the salty side but not too much. The steam mussel is right on spot, very yummy. The service is very friendly and attentive. The dessert is excellent especially salted caramel pudding. The size is quite big but I almost finished it myself. The seating is quite comfortable. The inside is more comfortable than the outside but the patio has the advantage of the good view of the Newport Beach pier.

Nice and friendly atmosphere. If you want to place where you only drinks and have some appetizers, and just have a good time to talk with your friends or family, "The Cannery" may be the right place. If you want to have a quality meals and "Peace & Quiet" time, don't go there, seriously. My wife and I, and our best friend (Wife & Husband) went "The Cannery" on Saturday night. Restaurant was very busy and crowded. We all liked "High-Energy" atmosphere. But restaurant was so noisy that we had to talk really loud. People around us were all drunk and laughing and shouting. We had Roasted Mushroom Soup and New England Clam Chowder Soup. Taste were unimpressive for $9, and cold. Caesar Salad: vegetable was dry and dressing taste like cheap local restaurant, for $13, Really? Skuna Bay Salmon was good, but wasn't hot at all. And all the vegetables were hard and cold. Swordfish wasn't hot either. Halibut was OK, but butter risotto was so so. They cost between $29 to 36 each meal. Way over price for that quality. Chef Gordon Ramsay would shout out for the quality of foods, "Oh, Come on!" At last, waiter was not interested in serving us, because we didn't order any wine or drinks. But he focused on next our table they were ordering wine after wine. More order, more tips for him. If you are looking for a great meals, I highly not recommend this restaurant. Save your money and time. If you want to go on your date or have a good time with your friends, and lots of drinking. Who cares about foods.

Highly recommended and great location. This place serves great food and our guests all enjoyed their dinner. It was busy and so the service was a little ht and miss, but did not spoil our overall enjoyment.

Casual atmosphere, great service and deilicious, fresh seafood. The Bouillabaisse is chuck full of lobster, crab, scallops shrimp and more in fantastic broth. Best I have had in a long time and I am a big fan of this dish. The swordfish and oysters, clams and halibut were all excellent as well.

Happy Hour here is great. Tuesdays the wine is half price as well as free clam chowder. The place is so popular it has lots of ambience. Great selection of happy hour priced food. Good portions.
