“Great formula broken”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

This used to be one of my favorite places. I am a local and I have visited the Cannery for 15 years. In recent years, my wife and I plus several guest would go to the Cannery every Friday. Just recently the chef retired and a new chef came on board. The new chef changed the entire menu. Many great items we enjoyed (e.g. the pear salad, or clams dish) have disappeared. We had a hard time finding things we liked. I tried the mushroom soup and there was nothing special about it. It could have come as well from a can. The prices have also steadily risen to the point they make no sense anymore. Say 6 clams for $12, or a glass of wine for $17. I am sad to say we left our comments with the waitress and we are now looking for another restaurant to spend our Fridays enjoying diverse foods that are reasonably priced.

“WHAT HAPPENED??”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

I have written two glowing reviews of The Cannery, am a long-time customer. Went back 'as usual' for a birthday.... menu has been changed, 'new chef', old chef now executive something. The Cannery owns El Cholo Mexican chain restaurants.... and suddenly, everything was in Tabasco. The Venison was served, at our request, with mashed potatoes instead of red quinoa, which had to be promptly returned: runny, obviously a blender was used, just embarrassing. My swordfish was cooked to perfection, however with a 'tangy' celery and lemon taste. The bouillabaisse was good, however. The ahi/sushi roll was barely touched. What is going on? Prices were what we expected - we were prepared to splurge - but $36/40 for this is simply dreadful. Bring us back the OLD Cannery!!

“Awful Place”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Four of us went to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant was so loud, you couldn't hear the person right next to you. We asked to be moved and found out we were the fourth group to ask to be moved from that table. The heaters weren't working right so it was cold and drafty. However, they managed to serve warm drinks - drinks that should have been icy cold. The menu wasn't the least bit creative. We opted for an appetizer and then tried to leave. After 40 minutes waiting for the valet to bring our car, we had to go get it ourselves. Then, they tried to make us pay for parking. Bad service, bad food, bad ambiance - why would anyone ever go there again?

“The BEST!!!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

My husband and I had our Rehearsal Dinner at the Cannery in September 2012. We were so impressed with Stevie Cruz and her staff. She thought of every detail and made everything so easy for us down to the custom menu and centerpieces. The actual event was amazing. The food was delicious, the ambience on the porch second to none and the service was top notch. All of our guests were so impressed. It really was the perfect start to our wedding weekend. Thank you so much Stevie and the rest of the staff at the Cannery!

“You've been canned!”

Went to the cannery just prior to the light parade...awesome! Had some drinks at the bar before we ate downstairs. Cool place. Loved it. A little high priced, but a nice place for a special occasion.
