“Excellent Italian Experience”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

My wife and I rented a car and was exploring Southern California. We found a parking space in Newport Beach, fed the parking meter and began walking around. The boardwalk along the beach is a fun walk around area, full of quaint shops and restaurants with outdoor seating. Since it was late afternoon and we had not eaten since breakfast, we luckily discovered an Italian restaurant down a tiny side street. We always prefer to be seated outside, and oh mercy to our delight: We found this restaurant to have pure Italian wine and food. We ordered and shared: Antipasto di Pesce Stromboli -- Baby octopus, calamari, baby shrimp, fresh julienne vegetables cappers, black olives, lemon and extra virgin olive and a bottle of Mazzoni Toscana Rosso 2010 Sangiovese from Tuscany, Italy. The service was excellent, great Italian bread and wonderful food.

“Looks better than the food. Go elsewhere!”
Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

Very pretty little place, but the food left a lot to be desired. Really needs an overall in the kitchen. The minestrone soup was tasteless, pasta was mediocre at best and pizza was just plain bad. Find another place in the area, trust me.

“Good atmosphere, nice server, bad everything else.”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

I went to Il farro with my family for dinner and after waiting to get seated for 30 minutes after watching people that came in after us get seated first, we had a mediocre meal with little to no flavor. The waitress was very nice, however you don't go to a restaurant for the waitress. The portions were big and not too expensive, but flavorless and boring. If you want good Italian food, go elsewhere.

“Large portions of delicious Italian Food”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

What a great during our recent visit to Newport Beach, CA. It sits in a quaint alley way just off the beach. Everything is fresh - including their homemade pastas. Large portions and a great value. We will definitely go back on our next visit.

“Just what we've been looking for!”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

We were determined to find a nice place to eat at the pier in Newport Beach. And Il Farro is it. I can't believe we've missed it for so long. It's tucked in with several beachy type places, but is really very nice. The menu is authentic Italian and the food lived up to the menu.
I like it because you can put on a sundress and go there for a nice meal. The food and atmosphere live up to that. Or you can stumble in in shorts and flip flops for a casual mean like we did last night. We weren't super hungry - so each a a bowl of soup (both the minestrone and Pasta Fagioli were excellent. Then we split a very excellent pizza. The service was good and the price was reasonable. It's our new favorite.
