The chowder is awesome and the only pace I will eat red chowder. Love the shrimps on a skewer with double potatoes...always delicious!

“DELICIOUS!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

The calamari appetizer was the most delicious thing I have ever tasted. the food was awesome. The only thing that could have made it better was having new england clam chowder instead of that yucky tomato based chowder!!

“Busy restaurant but food just ok”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013 via mobile

Went here with family while visiting the area. Line out the door. We all got a cup of clam chowder for $2.95 while waiting. Lots of clams in a red based soup. Dinner only had 2 fishes.. Halibut and Salmon and both frozen fresh. Shrimp and scallop scewers came with coleslaw and a baked mashed potato. Salmon was average. Cole slaw good as was potato. All food served on paper plates. Prices range from $15-20 for most dinners. Service was good.

“Quirky, casual, must-have in Balboa”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

This place is a little quirky. Paper plates, plastic tableware, very "diner-y" feel, more servers than customers yet service was still slow early on a Wednesday night. And it's not cheap. But the food is great. In fact the shrimp skewers spaced with bacon are the best any of us have ever had. My wife's halibut steak was outstanding, as was my King Crab. The cheesy mashed potatoes were really cheesy tasting. We'll definitely be back when we're in town again.

“A must if you are in Newport”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013 via mobile

This is the second year in a row we have visited the crab cooker on our trip.
Went again for lunch and it was perfect.
It's a busy place but they seat you within 5-10 minutes.
Have the clam chowder and then rip into the king crab. Have followed that game plan on both visits and it's worked well.
Great staff and a nice set up.
