This place used to be an old favorit, but has gone down hill. Very greasy and lack of proper staffing was a disapointment. Everyone was eating in the bar because it was happy hour on a Monday all day....but there was only one server! and one of the bus boys was busy watching soccer! not good!

The Balboa PAVILION Restaurant & Ballroom is one of the vintage locations in all of Newport Harbor. I grew up here, and had lunch here today. Our Newport Harbor High School's 50 year High School Class Reunion will be held in the upstairs Ballroom this summer, and we selected this venue above all other choices in the Newport Beach area, because our class all grew up here, and chose this Restaurant for our Reunion. If you're looking on TripAdvisor for tips, I suggest you look for those given by "locals." Good luck!

Located in the beautiful Island Hotel (formerly the Four Seaons), this is a perfect place to get dressed up to go to for a wonderful evening of fine dining in Newport's Fashion Island. While on the expesive side, it's to be expected for such an establishment & worth it for this kind of night out. Our wait staff (Micheal) was amazing, very hospitable & knowledgable. The menu had some interesting items not expected in such a place - mac & chesse, hidden between items such as foie gras & smoked slamon. The creme bruile dessert special for the evening was really good. The entres were excellent and beautifully presented - the entree selections included many great fish dishes, with a vegeterian selection which was a unique spinach & vegetable pasta dish. It was a really nice surprise to receive a little appetizer compliments of the Chef, in addition to some complimentary little desserts & little gift boxes w/ some fresh miniature scones for the ladies to take home. Our party of 4 got talking & didn't realize that we had stayed way past closing, and appreciated not feeling kicked out in any way. Another plus is the jazz bar across the hall which offers live entertainment Th - Sat.
