As a husband, I usually don't consider a shopping mall an attraction. I must make an exception for the Fashion Island Mall.
First, the shopping. Fashion Island is definitely not a collection of discount outlets. It is anchored by several of the big-name department stores: Nordstroms, Macy's, Bloomingdales, and Neiman-Marcus. In addition there are many specialty shops focusing largely on fashions, shoes etc, not surprisingly given the mall's name! There are a number of other establishments that make the visit enjoyable for the husbands and boyfriends not enthusiastic about shopping. There's a Tesla showroom which offers and insight into this exciting concept and a great pet store where one can view many available puppies and other animals.
Another great advantage to we non-shoppers is the immaculately maintained mall. The landscaping in spectacular with fountains and a particularly interesting carp pond. The mall has a wide selection of comfortable chairs where one can people watch, see the kids at the carp pond or just relax in the sun; my favourite pastime.
Additionally, there are a number of eating opportunities. None that we have tried have disappointed, but overall 59th and Lex at Bloomingdale's is our favourite.
There's plenty of parking and the mall is easy to get at from any direction.
Worth a visit, even for non-shoppers.
