We found the town of Newport and the beach to be very overrated. It was rundown and crammed with people. We were there in the summer time so that may have had something to do with it, but we were fairly turned off from the place and would not return. The whole place seemed like a poorly constructed theme-park and it had a terrible smell to it. Stay on the highway until you pass Newport and hit Laguna Beach!

If you have seen Summer Rental with John Candy, you have experienced this place!

I went to watch the sun-set. When I arrived there were groups of friends and families gathered around the permament BBQs enjoying the sea air, cooking, playing guitars and beach volley ball. I immediately felt like an extra in an episode of the TV show "The OC" it was truly an amazing place. The sun set was stunning and unforgettable.

Nice walk to the pier. The bums are polite and we were not run down by the bicycles...although it was close. I liked the meditation maze... with the dates and events on it. Interesting sights and smells.

The area is awesome...You can ride your bike everywhere. Once you park your car leave it and get groceries at Pavilion's, eat at restaurants locally in the area, The beach is crisp and clean. Great for Surfing 54th, 28th street and the wedge, boogie boarding, playing volley ball,(bring a net), Firepits a A and B Street. The sand castle contest are a blast too in October....All in all it is a fabulous location! Beautiful blue skies, tempature is wonderful almost all year round. Love it!

We rented a house on the beach for thanksgiving. There are 15 with 7 kid fages2-11. They so loved having the beach in our front yard. The public fire pits are great for making s'mores. The area is friendly and has lots of activities, shops and places to eat. Very family friendly and safe we would go again
