“Spot On: Food and Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2014

Our large party really enjoyed our dining experience at Cucina Alessa in Newport. We were accommodated with a reservation on short notice, table ready on time and the service was very good.

Food was fresh and portions of good size to large. The chicken stuffed tortellini was excellent but I changed the sauce to alfredo which was a nice balance and not too creamy or over poured. Salad was also just right in size and dressing. The seafood linguini and pollo parmigiana were both very excellent. I tasted my friend's marinara sauce which was full of flavor.

My only negative was the noise level; room was small with low ceilings and the other parties near us were loudly enjoying their wine. But don't let that stop you...it was very good food.

“Home style Italian food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2014

Cucina Alessa has a great menu, with many wonderful choices. Antipasto combo of three cheeses and three cold cuts was our starter: burrata, burrata with ricotta, parmesan and proscuitto danielle, Italian ham, and spicy soppressata. All were excellent. We crafted a pasta combination for a second course that included the ricotta and spinach ravioli, lamb al sugo, and fettucini alfredo. All the starters and pastas were excellent and authentic Italian style. Fresh, tasty ingredients in every dish. We had some pizza, thin crust, great cheese and pepperoni. Fresh catch and pollo marsala topped off an excellent meal. Highly recommend this restaurant.

“Superb Quality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2014

We were intially looking for Eat Chow, but could not find it and opted for Cucina Alessa. I was quite pleased that we did. Our server David was very attentive, informed us of the specials for the day, and answered our questions about some of the wine selection we were interested in. Not only were our dishes beautiful in presentation, but the taste was excellent. The thing that put it over the top for me personally was the Chocolate Souffle. It was perfectly cooked, not to sweet, and had a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream to balance the rich flavor of the souffle.

“Very disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

Attached to a liquor store and on a busy highway, the lights of parking cars shined through the window on our table. My tortellini pasta was hard and undercooked and my wife's pasta tasted like cardboard. Had heard this place was good, but it is not. Will not come back. :(

“Oh, oh!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2014

This easy to locate restaurant has little parking and a crowded dining area. The waitstaff might have been good, and the food might also have been good, but we were overwhelmed by the noise level (on a Sunday night). The table next to us eventually complained and were moved to another room that was starting to vacate. Another woman complained about the noise level while in the line for the restroom. There is no reason for high decibel levels in restaurants and on the east coast at least, commercial reviews are starting to include references to decibel levels. What a shame, it obviously is popular (even on a Sunday night) and no doubt the food and service were good. We made it out with hearing in tact, but I worry about the employees who have to be there every night!!
