Went on a Wednesday evening and even then it was rather crowded, waited about 45 minutes but there was an open table at the bar/entrance to get a drink and chips/salsa while waiting. Had the Enchiladas Pubelo, Maine lobster with tomatillo sauce, spectacular! Also the atmosphere was very impressive. Will go back next time I'm in the area!

Valet parking is a joke. They charge $4 to crank up your radio and change all your settings. Park around the corner and walk.
That said, the restaurant is great! The service is prompt, careful, attentive, and friendly. The food is wonderful! $20-$40 range. Worth every penny. The Cabo Azul plate is excellent, with shrimp taco, Maine lobster enchilada (out of this world!), chile relleno stuffed with shrimp and crab. Nice ambiance! Loved the music.

I was turned on to this eatery by a close friend of mine on my last visit to So Cal. She highly recommended it as one the best Mexican restaurants in the area. First of all, I really liked the ambiance/vibe of the place which got me excited to try the food. We tried the Osso Buco and the seafood enchiladas, which I don't eat ether very often. Impressive flavor profiles and very mouth watering! Not to mention, the margaritas were quite good also. It always helps the taste of the meal when the server is attentive and very pleasant. I would definitely give it another go round when I'm in the area again!

I've been here 2 or 3 times and I've always had great service. The waiters are outgoing and treat the customers very well. The atmosphere is to die. It has a patio area for those that just want to lounge and people watch.

We came while staying in a cottage at Crystal Cove State Park, seeking a special place for a dinner with relatives we don't see often. We think valet parking at a place like this is high-flown and superfluous, and there was an absurd quality to being asked to pay $4 to have your vehicle parked in a half-empty lot, so we passed, and trudged in for dinner from the adjoining mall parking lot. Once we passed through the heavy wood doors of the restaurant, however, there was no more pretentiousness and the place was just plain gorgeous. It's an experience in itself just walking through Javier's and viewing the artifacts and features they have in this sprawling place, not to mention the people-watching. Once we met up and all sat down for dinner, the experience was a good one. The two little girls played nicely at the table and it all felt comfortable and casual. The only complaint was that our waiter took a bit long to come for our meal orders after drinks had been served. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Portions were small but delicious, and a creative touch had been added to both the classic Mexican dishes and the cocktails, including the mango margarita. Javier's is overall pricey, with some less expensive options. You get good food and good service, and there isn't a snooty atmosphere to spoil the fun. We'd recommend it if this is the type of experience you're looking for.
