Charming couple - way out in a rural area. The make great wines. Food is just okay, but ambience is priceless. They should be serving ONLY local organic - beef, veggies & salads, to support the health of the land, but they prefer the Costco route instead. Small place, odd hours, kinda dark, decorated with 'antiques and odd ball collectables'. Dirty an cluttered, more spider webs than I thought it should be in a restaurant.

Well! We have found an awesome restaurant about 40-50 minutes through the forest west of where we moved. Larry Hogan, the owner/winemaker, started & sold the famous Barnwood label. He now crafts his wine under his Sagebrush Annie's label. The tasting room is on Highway 33 between Hwy 166/Lockwood Valley Rd in Ventucopa (the Trip Advisor map is way wrong). Dinner is served Fri-Sun, & reservations are a must. The wine is award-winning & great. Larry has expanded beyond his famous cabernets to merlot & an incredibly smooth zinfandel. Larry himself cooks the steaks (or salmon for those who don't eat red meat) on a wood fire he meticulously tends each night. Karina, his lovely wife who speaks four languages, makes the appetizers (except the grilled portobello mushrooms), salad dressings & desserts. If you are lucky, you may get to hear her play the piano. Leave the affectations & attitude at the door; this place is for people who truly enjoy great wine & food. It looks like a little old West saloon. We love this restaurant! There is a great room in back for large events, with river rock walls & a huge fireplace. We have attended two events, & had several dinners, & this is a very special place! Cannot praise this restaurant enough!

Sagebrush Annies provides a very unique old west dining experience with great steaks, sides and outstanding, award winning wines. Sagebrush Annie's wines, both Sagebrush and Stone Pine are some of the top award winning wines in California having won double gold at San Francisco International and LA county fair.

Reservations are required as they are only open for dinner Friday through Sunday. Wine tasting can be booked for weekend afternoons.
