“Richard and Edie's Nevada City Getaway”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

My Christmas gift this year to my husband was a trip to Nevada City and a two night stay at Emma Nevada House. What a wonderful experience we had. The atmosphere of the entire home is very warm and inviting. Our room was very beautiful and had everything we could possibly ask for. Susan and Andrew were extremely friendly and helpful in every way. Breakfast each morning was very tasty and served in such an appealing, creative way. Afternoon snacks were layed out each afternoon, for us to help ourselves to. Cleanliness is top priority on our list when we are travelling, and Emma House met our expectations one hundred percent. We received an email from Susan and Andrew, asking if there was any way they could have improved our stay, and there is not one thing we would change. We both hope to return in the summer, staying at Emma House again, and experience a summer vacation there. What a wonderful memory we have made. Edie and Richard F.

Room Tip: Emma's Hideaway was elegant and fun.

Sixteen members of our family visited the Emma Nevada House for our parents 60th anniversary hoping that the picturesque Nevada City setting and the this inviting house would provide a perfect backdrop for a wonderful celebration of family. It didn't just meet our expectations, but surpassed them in every way imaginable. This was a shared sentiment across family generations (with age ranges from 2 to 81), all with a variety of different expectations. The beautiful home itself, the hosts (Susan and Andy) and their many special extra touches, the breakfasts (one word, "wow"), and the surroundings of a lively yet quaint town all made for a perfect gathering spot. I can’t recommend the Emma Nevada House enough whether you’re lucky enough to gather an entire family or are just looking for a perfect getaway. It is as good as a Bed and Breakfast gets!

We stayed one night it is a cute home. Upon arrival the gentleman could have been a little more welcoming he was more interested in telling me and my husband the rules of the coffee pot. We had just gotten in from a very bad rain storm and wasn't to interested in coffe more about resting. There is no refreshments like cookies etc. especially since this bed and breakfast is very expensive expected to see more. I would advise waiting for a nice day in the summer would be more to do and see and bring your own room snacks.

my husband and I came to Nevada City from Philadelphia to visit our ever wandering daughter. that in itself can be exciting yet anxiety producing! Especially us, from the serious East Coast. so finding the Emma house and all their lovely amenities was very relaxing.
It is beautiful, quiet, yet the folks are very friendly and easy to chat with if you like that..Susan and Andy are the perfect team, and it shows. i have been to many a BandB, and this by far has been the best...in fact, the reason we stopped going to B&Bs was a bad experience, now we are so excited about trying them out again!!!
the food was fresh and delicious, served beautifully on a gorgeous garden deck. the rooms and bathrooms very very comfy..especially loved those yummy towelsand washcloths! ha
seriously, this is the place to stay in Nevada City! love to Winnie and Nevada...xo, John and Helen roberts

My husband and I had just dropped off our son at college and Emma House was just what we needed. Andy and Susan are the perfect hosts and it felt like we were staying at our great aunties home in terms of the warmth and comfort there. We will be back again, but hopefully as residents of this wonderful place. Highly recommend the breakfast as well....sooooo yummy, and a beautiful porch to enjoy it on.

We went with friends and stayed the first weekend in August 2012. The location of this B&B is perfect because it is within walking distance of the town but since it is not "downtown," there is a quiet feel to this residential area. We were very pleased with the quality of the breakfasts (both mornings) and we enjoyed dining outside among the trees. We also liked that it was not a "buffet" style breakfast as we've encountered before at other B&Bs. Andy and Susan are both very good hosts and attended to the needs/requests of their guests. They are quite knowledgeable about the restaurants and we were also pleased with their recommendations. We happened to be in Nevada City on a very warm weekend so during the day, our upstairs room was on the warmer side (even with the additional fan they provided) -- that being said, the main floor areas were cool and we spent most of our time there. Our friends had a downstairs room and it was just perfect--the downstairs rooms are much larger and since there was a couch/seating area, we did some visiting in their room. Next trip, if we travel in the summer, we would book earlier to get a downstairs room. Overall, we were very pleased with this relaxing experience in a great location.
