Three of us decided to drive up to Nevada City from Auburn and try out Friar Tucks Restaurant & Bar on a Sunday night. We entered via the bar area where a gentleman playing guitar greeted us with a smile. His choice of music was excellent and easy to listen to while dining. The waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu choices and variations. The onion soup and tempura tiger prawns were delicious. The steak salad was very good and generous so we took the remainder of that entrée home with us. For the past 25 years we have enjoyed Friar Tuck's signature dinner their fondue entrees; however, we wanted to try their other entrees this visit. This is a great restaurant for their fondue dinners from cheese to seafood and the various sauces and marinades that accompany your meal. If you like this type of dining, preparing your own concoctions with a hot fondue pot - this is the restaurant to explore. We will return to Friar Tuck's soon as the ambiance, great food and friendly staff make it a very pleasant dining experience combined with the Gold Rush era charm of Nevada City.
