I travel to Laughlin many times a year on the Harrahs Charters and am always looking for a new place to visit. Renting a car is essential if you arrive by air and want to get out and explore the countryside. I asked a local about any interesting places that perhaps I had not been to and was told about Pirates Cove Resort. Take a drive down Route 66 and find this gem it is well worth it.
They have all ammenities for campers, river tours, and they have rentals for just about everything. Though I have not stayed there the rental units look very nice and everything is done in wood. There is even an old pirate ship docked for you to take pictures of. I understand in the summer they move it out into the cove and anchor it there so people can swim to it what a wonderful feature. Plenty of dock facility for your boat also.
The only facility that I have used is the restaurant/bar which has great food, a wonderful view and really good service. The rest rooms were very clean and well maintained which is also a plus. There is also lots of handicap parking in front of the restaurant and a special place for motorcycles to park. They seem to have thought of everything when building this resort.
Explore the website and see just how much they have to offer. If you want a get away vacation spot or just a day trip away from the casinos I would highly recommend this place. I intend to go back on my next visit to Laughlin. I would even consider booking a weeks vacation just to get away and relax in this picturesque part of the Colorado River.
It is well worth the drive to get there. Perhaps because it is so different from anything else I have found to visit. It is an oasis in the desert.
