It was our first time in St. Helena and we couldn't have asked for a better experience getting 4 winery tours in, totally on budget and so much fun! We booked last minute through our hotel concierge to coordinate a Platypus tour, and it was perfect for us since we were a little overwhelmed by where to go, making appointments, etc. We started at Rutherford Ranch with a wine & chocolate pairing, then to Dutch Henry for a tasting & cave tour, third was Clos Pegase for a tasting & cave tour and lastly David Fulton for an 'interesting' tasting. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better guide (DAN the man!) as he was super knowledgeable not only about the area, wine and wineries but also knew and advised us of proper techniques and etiquette. Would totally do another Platypus tour next time - as they take into consideration if you've been before, what types of wines you like and what you want to do/see when booking!

This was our first wine tour so we were skeptical on what to expect. From the moment Army (our guide) picked up us at our B&B to the time he dropped us off, after a full day, we had the most enjoyable experience. Our guide explained the history of the region, described the landscape and background that added to our tasting experience. The four wineries we visited were smaller vineyards that produced smaller quantities, offered exclusive insights to the history of the winery and offered some of the best testing wine we have ever experienced. If you want to visit massive wineries that you can purchase at you local grocer pick another wine tour. If you want to fully experience the history, richness and beauty of Napa and Sonoma and some of the best unique wineries, then go with Platypus - you can't go wrong.
