Owner description: $110 Wine Tour. Join us on a Platypus small-group wine tour of the Napa Valley, the Sonoma Valley or the Russian River / Healdsburg wine country! You’ll visit four charming, backroads wineries, be served a picnic lunch in a winery setting and learn many interesting tidbits: local history, culture and wine making. Our specialty is intimate, fun and memorable wine tours. This is a social tour for folks who are interested in tasting some of the world’s most celebrated wines, but are not necessarily wine experts. Hotel pick-up included. Tasting fees not included. Last-minute inquiries are also welcome! We offer private tours as well. Did we mention, fun?! TCP-21230-P

By her own admission, our guide Laura, was not as familiar with the Sonoma side of wine country as she was Napa. This showed as she got lost a couple of times and really didn't provide us with much background on the region we were visiting. Our first stop was not good at all, which seemed to rattle her further. She tried a little too hard to compensate, but all in all we ended the day on a high note with a stellar winery stop. I appreciated the communication before we arrived, so that she understood our interests and could plan the day. We liked the lunch option very much and would suggest that as an addition to others who use this firm.

We have had a number of different tours over the years and we all felt that this was average at best. The lack of regional knowledge really hurt the experience as did the first couple of winery stops.

Allison was so friendly and amazing, she started off by introducing herself and us to everyone else on the tour. She did a round the bus, asking us which types of wines were interested in and ensured us that we would travel to places for everyone. We visited 4 boutique wineries, they were all amazing. The lunch was great and the trip never seemed too long and boring. There was enough water to keep everyone hydrated and the cheese and cracker platter was amazing. She also gave us dinner recommendations for those that were interested. She explained that Sonoma would be the best place to visit for the sparkling sweet wines. So next time we come, we are definitely going to stay longer than 2 nights and visit some of the larger wineries and take the Tour to visit some of the boutique wineries in Sonoma

Toured on November 2nd. Tour lived up to reviews. We were with 4 other couples, all very sociable. It was hard to believe we had just met. Guide was great. He took us to 4 small wineries which were terrific. Lunch and snack were delicious, especially the quinoa salad. Glad we toured with Platypus. Great memories added to our trip to Napa.

To start off, Scott, our tour guide, was so amazing. He started off the tour with a lilttle education about Napa and the surrounding area, how to taste wine, and filled the whole rest of the day with awesome tidbits and tons of humor. Our bus was well stocked with water and snacks, which made for a nice busride and kept us hydrated.

Each tasting room was prearranged for our group and it wasn't the typical 4 wines - we could retaste our favorites and honestly retaste anything we wanted. Each room made for an educational experience - we were seated and given a tour of all wineries while tasting wine and hearing about the history. Additionally, all the locations weren't the typical wineries and it was awesome to see the scenery and learn about the wine and area.

We were proved a great lunch with sandwiches, cheese and crackers, wine (of course) and even quinoa and hummus for the vegetarians of the group (me). Everything was so well planned out and fabulous!

I would absolutely do this tour again on my next trip to Napa - such a great price and great everything! And, one of the best parts was at Hopper Creek Winery where we got to squish the grapes!
