Best Western Plus Elm House Inn

Relying on TripAdvisor reviews of Napa lodging, my wife and I spent two nights here in February, 2013. We would have stayed a third night, but they were booked solid. The hotel is a perfect place to stay while visiting the Napa Valley. The building is a compact two stories and you access your room from inside the hotel. It has the feel of a charming bed and breakfast and the comfort of a modern hotel. The decor is very well done with bright, cheerful colors and tasteful decorations. The room was very comfortable as was the bed. Breakfast was near-elegant with china, silverware and attentive staff. The hottub was great, with powerful jets. Going to downtown Napa is a 20 minute walk or a five minute drive. Unbeatable.

Room Tip: Book early. This is a popular hotel.

Visiting with my wife from Montana to see NAPA and hooked up with the Elm House based on other excellent reviews posted here. Without question, a top flight place to stay - so comfortable. The room was very spacious, the ground quiet and well-maintained. The room is itself was a level of a duplex as the ground are made up of 6-8 bldgs of this type. The rooms are immaculate and only lacked a microwave over, although in NAPA that was not a need since there were so many good restaurants. The breakfast was outstanding - at first appearing small, but then realizing there are only a dozen or so guests at any time and they make fresh Belgian waffles in the back room. Coffee was fantastic, plenty fo fresh fruit, oatmeal, banana bread...all quite healthy selections. The hotel is approximately a 20 min walk to downtown, almost perfect in the February cooler weather. My wife and I walked late at night and it was pleasant; never threatening. There is a running trail on the other side of downtown (Silverado) about 1.5 mi from the hotel for those of you needing to work off the delish breakfast! The staff were without question, friendly, helpful, and responsive. I highly recommend this place. Not sure it is for couples with young children but they seemed pretty open to anything. I agree with other posts - this is a B&B with a Best Western tag.

We stayed for three days with my wife, had a great time. The rooms where big, comfortable, and very tidy. Parking can get full. Has excellent breakfast. And the service by the staff is great. Also prices are very affordable. We will come back here.

The friendly staff treats you like visiting family. The room we stayed in was very large with a separate dressing room with a sink and makeup counter, my wife loved it! Fresh made waffles and muffins in the mourning along with fresh fruit oatmeal and all sorts of cereals. There were fresh baked cookies in the evening with a warm fireplace. The hotel is conveniently located near the center of Napa (one mile) and a short ride to Rt 29 and the wineries.

We had the privilege of staying for 3 nights in February 2013, Tom, the inn keeper, was very friendly, as were all of the staff. Nothing was too much effort and the recommendations were spot on. The room that we stayed in was very cosy with a fireplace, the room was bright, we were on the junction of the road, but that was not too noisy, not a problem.
Everything about the hotel was friendly and comfortable sitting in front of the large fireplace in the main dining room, main reception area just drinking morning coffee was even a pleasure.
When we return to the Napa this will definitely be the place to stay.
Downtown is not that far, maybe 15 minutes comfortable walk......excercise is good....
Thanks Tom and all of your staff.

The good: This hotel was great. It felt like a bed and breakfast with welcoming, informative and helpful staff. The breakfast was great and included fresh baking, a selection of great fruit and fresh to order waffles. And at night there were fresh, warm, home baked cookies.

The so-so: It's definitely outside of the tourist downtown (~1mile) and is on a busy street. You need to walk or drive to get to most restaurants and wineries.

The bad: None.

Don't let the Best Western name scare you off. Nothing wrong with Best Western, but the name invokes visions of a chain hotel. This is an independently owned and operated Inn. It is located just off the main Napa Valley Highway (29) and is less than a mile from resurging downtown Napa. The innkeepers and their staff are super friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfasts are hearty and tasty. The huge fireplace in the lobby is a cozy bonus, particulary on a chilly February evening. Be sure not to miss the warmed chocolate chip macaroon cookies in the evenings!

Room Tip: Some rooms have fireplaces.
