The breakfast at Sweetie Pies is beyond wonderful. That has to be one of the best bakeries I've ever enjoyed! The location of the hotel is great, with a general store, a candy store, a fine French restaurant, and a nightclub, in addition to the bakery all in the mill complex. You can easily walk around historic downtown Napa to other restaurants. We chose a room with a balcony, which was nice for good weather days, and a gas fireplace for rainy nights. There was both a one-cup coffee maker and a hot pot for tea. My one quibble is that there were no herbal tea bags upon check-in, but several kinds were brought to the room at my request.

We loved Napa River Inn. My husband & I took our daughter for 21st birthday to "food and wine tasting" at Mustard Festival. Location could not have been better. Festival was on Inn property with restaurants, shopping, etc within a short walking distance. Have to mention the delicious breakfasts delivered to your room. Could travel back just for breakfast. We had the best time!

Loved it from the minute we got there early and were able to check in early to gettingour wonderful breakfasts at different times that originally asked for. Everythingn we asked was done. A rea value on the price but the service all the way down to the bellhops was great. Going back again in March. Great massages, food, ambience everything!

We absolutely love the Napa River Inn! Located in what was once an old mill, it has been completely renovated, but retains lots of charm. The place has a wonderful Napa feel, yet the amenities of a larger hotel. The restaurant on site was great, the gift shop had a lot to offer, and the views were charming. There's even a jazz club right downstairs! We could walk downtown to shop, eat, or visit wine Co-ops. Our room also had a balcony and fireplace, and when they heard it was our anniversary, they sent champagne to our room! Convenient driving distance to all the wineries, too!

My wife and I discovered the Napa River Inn on our first trip to Napa in 2003 and we've stayed there once a year ever since. It's a perfect place to experience Napa Valley for two big reasons. First, it's restaurants, wine bar, and bakery draw a lot of locals who will gladly give you insider tips on exploring Napa Valley. Second, it's a very nice hotel that's stumbling distance from many restaurants in downtown Napa -- an important consideration after a long day of wine tasting.

PROS
Spend the extra few bucks to upgrade from their standard room and you'll get a fireplace, balcony, or both. Their rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed. The best part is the included breakfast from Sweetie Pies Bakery (delivery to your room included) and the nightly wine tasting coupons! We opt to go out to Sweetie Pies (it's in the complex) because locals stop in there, so it's a great place to meet a few people and get the local scoop. And, Silo's Wine and Jazz club is outstanding! Keith, the manager, is always happy to make a winery recommendation so you just might find yourself modifying your wine tasting plans for the next day!

CONS
The room decor is a bit dated for our taste. Of course, it's all in good condition and they've recently upgraded the bedding, so it's not bad.

THE SKINNY
Why stay at some B&B in the middle of nowhere when you can have good food, good nightlife, and a perfect homebase in the Napa River Inn? We love this place and will continue to go here year after year, even though we know we can get a better rate at similar hotels nearby. Other hotels just don't have their total package.

I am a napa native and have moved away. we decided to come out to napa to celebrate my boyfriends birthday for the night. We stayed at the napa River Inn and the room (207)we had was amazing. Walking into it felt like such a romantic hide away. was cozy and inviting with the fireplace and the warm walls, and the claw-foot tub was a great way to relax and unwind! We truly did not want to leave the room once we got into it. the staff was friendly and helpful.
