“Great location in downtown Napa but perhaps a bit overpriced”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights on a trip to Napa Valley. Great location and liked the historic nature of the building but not quite up to the price tag. For example, a continental breakfast was included but a coffee order consisted of a single cup of coffee. No pot, no french press just a lonely mug filled with coffee. Room was comfortable and fairly quiet. I think in the summer the walk way overlooking the river would be fantastic. I would also suggest replacing the clock radios. Needed an engineering degree to set the correct time and set the alarm. Just a few small up scale touches could make a huge difference.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a river view. We looked out onto a street and it brought a little noise with...

We had a fabulous 24 hours! The rooms are lovely, overlooking the river with the wonderful walkway is very pleasant (and eating breakfast on the balcony in warmer weather would be a fun). Great restaurants nearby. Sleep was excellent, very comfy beds! And an unexpected treat: we loved the art work on the walls of our room. One artist particularly called to us...we googled her, discovered she was in Calistoga and teaching a class we could drop in to that very afternoon! All around very special time!

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful, historic hotel in downtown Napa! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has some of the friendliest staff ever! Our check-in experience was really easy and just reinforced our excitement about being there to celebrate a romantic birthday weekend. Our room was gorgeous and the bed was so comfortable that I made a note to ask about the brand!!! The location is awesome, situated near several great bars and restaurants. We were given vouchers upon check-in for a free wine tasting at The Bounty Hunter, where we also had a really great, casual dinner and fabulous wine. We enjoyed breakfast in bed from Sweetie Pies bakery, lovingly delivered by one of the hotel's super friendly bellmen. Though the weather was a bit too chilly to fully appreciate our balcony, we enjoyed having it as an option and we also took full advantage of the fireplace in the room as we lounged in the cozy, spa-like bathrobes. The staff went above and beyond with their hospitality in helping arrange delivery and set-up of a surprise birthday balloon bouquet and champagne before we arrived. We had such a great experience at the Napa River Inn! We can't wait to go back!

My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed in Napa for Valentine's weekend. We loved this Inn, it was very nice and in a great location. This made our first time in CA perfect and we hope to be back soon!

We had a wonderful stay at the Napa River Inn. We stayed in one of the newly remodeled rooms. It was beautiful. The view of the river was very nice too. The room was huge, the bathroom nice, the bed-gigantic and the fireplace was romantic. The breakfast and pastries were a nice touch. We dined at Fish Story and had a nice meal and experience. We also got bikes from the Napa River Inn and were surprised that we biked from main street, past Andretti winery and then back down the Silverado trail. Over 13 miles and we didn't even notice it was that long. We'll definitely be returning to the Napa River Inn and renting bikes again. Next time, we'll include wine tasting while biking. Oh, and great service from the entire team! Thanks.

My husband and I stayed at the Napa River Inn in an executive suite with fireplace located in the embarcadero building. Our room was a corner room facing the parking lot and residential area which was not a bad view. I know there are a lot of recommendations for a river view but at night it is overlooking the river as well as the main road and we were plenty happy with how nice our room was over the view. The river is a nice view but not as breathtaking as I imagined. The executive suite was very nice and large and worth the extra money (it was only $20 more). We originally upgraded for the fire place which was nice but the gas fireplace did not have a very big flame. It was still nice but you had to be pretty close to it to really enjoy it's warmth. But after seeing the room, it still made it worth the upgrade even if the fireplace wasn't as great as I had hoped. The bed is very nice and the room is clean and elegant with a historical charm. We stayed on a Thursday night so the hotel and surrounding was very quite which we enjoyed. When we booked we got a deal that included credit to a local restaurant and their standard breakfast delivered to your room. We stayed at The Pear for a delicious southern meal and loved our breakfast in bed. The breakfast is from a local bakery that was both delicious and filling (but no Denny's if that's the type of breakfast you are expecting as some reviewers complained the breakfast wasn't much). We loved that the location was right in downtown where we could walk around as well as walking distance from the Oxbow market. The information building which is just a few doors down from the hotel offers lots of helpful information about wineries and other things to see and do during your stay in Napa.

Room Tip: Executive suite with a street view was still nice, romantic, and quiet. Don't need a river view...

We are locals who live an hour away and who have been to Napa and the Napa Valley many times. We wanted something simple, relaxing and reasonably priced. The Napa River Inn location was perfect in that regard: on site parking, room ready early, gracious staff, easy walk to dinner. Our Embarcadero room was fine overall...clean, neat, nicely appointed...and gratefully on the second floor with a private balcony and river view. Also gratefully, the weather was warm and pleasant so we could open our door to the balcony; otherwise the room would have been rather dark during the day, even with the window curtains open. We were told the automatic gas fireplace had not been working and was fixed prior to our arrival, but it worked for only a few minutes. Breakfast was delivered to our room on time by a very pleasant staff member. Everything was good and as ordered. Overall this was a good choice for us.
