“Well cared for and welcoming hotel”
Reviewed January 2, 2011

I stayed here over the Christmas holiday because my partners father had just been released from the hospital and is dealing with end of life issues due to cancer. He could not tolerate the noise and commotion that is attendant upon a family with 5 grown sons and all of their families. Consequently, we decided to stay at the Embassy Suites and take turns providing respite care so that my partners mother could get out of the house and see her sons and grandchildren. As luck would have it; the rain fell ceaselessly all of Christmas day and into the night. Thankfully, the extensive and beautiful grounds at the Embassy Suites, plus a large Atrium area and indoor pool, gave us the opportunity to stretch our legs and amuse ourselves in other ways. Even though the hotel is older the facilities have been beautifully maintained. Constant care and continuous upkeep along with interesting outdoor artwork make this hotel more than a place to get a good nights sleep.

Stayed here because of its proximity to a NYE party we were attending. The price was right, the grounds are lovely, the rooms are neat and clean and the morning cooked to order complimentary breakfast is great. The set-up is perfect for a family. The evening "Manager's Reception" was a nice open bar with chips and salsa and popcorn which I thought was a little tacky. I do like high end hotels so while this was perfect for a necessary overnight stay, I wouldn't consider it to "special occasion" worthy.

My spouse and I spent 2 nights at this hotel in early November while on our Honeymoon.
The room was nice - large and well furnished. The bed was comforable. My complaints are only that the room smelled of cigarette smoke (even though it was a non-smoking room) and that the shower was too small. Their bathrooms could use upgrading.
The location is excellent as a base for touring the Napa Valley. We enjoyed touring many of the local wineries, and loved the dining options. I highly recommend stopping by Fume Bistro and Morimoto in Napa for dinners. Incredible food experiences.
The breakfast here was good - Just be aware it does get really busy the later in the morning that you go.
Really, you pay to stay in Napa. Anywhere else, the room rate should have been a third of what we paid. Ultilmately can't help but feel we paid way too much for what we got.

My husband, daughter and I come to this hotel 2 -3 times a year, generally to take in a performance at the Napa Valley Opera House. This hotel has never disappointed. The staff are friendly, welcoming and most importantly, many of the staff have been there for years. The housekeeping staff is some of the best we have ever had. The on-site restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices. The breakfast is what you would expect at an Embassy Suites, always delicious. The evening reception is decent. They have both indoor and outdoor pools, so you can enjoy this hotel any time of the year. Our daughter always heads to the lagoon area first thing to "visit" with the pair of white swans and black swans. You don't need to be a wine drinker to enjoy Napa. There are many things to do in this area besides the "weekend wine tasting" routine.

The location and room size are what is ideal. The 1985 decor can use some help. The indoor pool is cold, the hotel lacks any work out facility.

Well located about 15 minutes from Napa town centre. Lovely gardens and pleasant rooms. Food is good and complimentary breakfast a nice bonus with a good choice. The wine at the evening drinks is good - not cheap plonk. Food is good but portions (the pizza) a bit massive! They organised a very good tour for us with Napa Valley Country Wine Tours (also reviewed). Would recommend as somewhere to stay in Napa but having seen around the area, Sonoma looks a nicer town so would stay there on any subsequent trip - really recommend the winelands by the way, excellent spot.

It's quite hard to give this hotel only 3*'s (Average) as it is one of the best hotels in the Napa area. True it's not in the heart of Napa yet it's right off Hwy. 29 which is very convenient. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Napa a few years ago, and decided to return due to having to use up airline points. We can't fault the staff as the front desk were efficient and helpful as were the breakfast attendants.

However, the hotel room sure could use a major update. The decor is outdated, the sofa hasn't got much support, the shower and toilet are clean but need to be updated. Worse were the floppy bed pillows which frankly did not smell clean. Also the bathroom has just two tiny hooks attached to the door. There were no towel racks anywhere! They only provide a tiny hutch to place the clean, folded towels. Where do they expect the guests to do with them once they use them?? They could have attached some racks on the shower walls against the opposite side of the shower like many chain hotels do. It is very impractical and quite irritating to not have anything but those two itty bitty hooks. Speaking of the bathroom door it's weird. It's not a regular door but a swinging sort of door though it's complete. It's not appropriate. Thus, there is no lock on the door since it's in two pieces. Hopefully whomever you share the room with will not open the door on you accidentally.

In addition, the rooms have very little insulation so one can hear the neighbors' noises from talking to slamming of their doors. The rooms we've had on both visits face the pool where the walkway to the rooms are wooden so when the guests walk and drag luggage on it the noise is quite apparent in the rooms. The windows facing the front of the hotel/street are thin and should really be replaced as the noise can be heard in the room.

In short, this is a well-located hotel for the wine country and beyond, but it appears that the hotel management haven't made all that many updates over the years. And while the location is probably the main selling point for the hotel, they do charge some seriously high rates, and truly the hotel ought to make the necessary updates to justify charging so much and not rely on location alone.
