“Average hotel that could be lots better but is well-located”
Reviewed November 7, 2010

It's quite hard to give this hotel only 3*'s (Average) as it is one of the best hotels in the Napa area. True it's not in the heart of Napa yet it's right off Hwy. 29 which is very convenient. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Napa a few years ago, and decided to return due to having to use up airline points. We can't fault the staff as the front desk were efficient and helpful as were the breakfast attendants.

However, the hotel room sure could use a major update. The decor is outdated, the sofa hasn't got much support, the shower and toilet are clean but need to be updated. Worse were the floppy bed pillows which frankly did not smell clean. Also the bathroom has just two tiny hooks attached to the door. There were no towel racks anywhere! They only provide a tiny hutch to place the clean, folded towels. Where do they expect the guests to do with them once they use them?? They could have attached some racks on the shower walls against the opposite side of the shower like many chain hotels do. It is very impractical and quite irritating to not have anything but those two itty bitty hooks. Speaking of the bathroom door it's weird. It's not a regular door but a swinging sort of door though it's complete. It's not appropriate. Thus, there is no lock on the door since it's in two pieces. Hopefully whomever you share the room with will not open the door on you accidentally.

In addition, the rooms have very little insulation so one can hear the neighbors' noises from talking to slamming of their doors. The rooms we've had on both visits face the pool where the walkway to the rooms are wooden so when the guests walk and drag luggage on it the noise is quite apparent in the rooms. The windows facing the front of the hotel/street are thin and should really be replaced as the noise can be heard in the room.

In short, this is a well-located hotel for the wine country and beyond, but it appears that the hotel management haven't made all that many updates over the years. And while the location is probably the main selling point for the hotel, they do charge some seriously high rates, and truly the hotel ought to make the necessary updates to justify charging so much and not rely on location alone.

We stayed 2 nights-we enjoyed the relaxed and beautiful atmosphere of the lobby, the breakfast area, and the courtyard . The room was fine-i wish we had asked for a different room since we heard alot of freeway noise-but we got used to it - the breakfast was great, anything you could have wanted and included in the price. I would recommend this as a good choice in Napa.

For Napa Valley, I dont think there is a better hotel.......When we checked in, David at the front office was nothing short of Excellent. I have NEVER met a front office worker with his AWESOME can-do attitude. We needed to change our room as we chked in due to freeway noise...called David, Room changed immediately. The day we chked in it was raining and cold, since the hotel was still in the fall mode (A/C only runs cold throughout the hotel until Nov) David IMMEDIATELY had a heater sent up to the room .

We wanted recommendations for a good Italian restuarant...he got us reservations at Uva and at the mustard grill at the times we wanted.....This guy needs and award, SERIOUSLY......
My wife and I wanted a romantic getaway to Napa and we got it let me tell you. There is nothing like not having stress on a romantic vacation.
Anyway, the hotel's breakfast is awesome as well....(dont forget to take ur breakfast coupons with you in the morning) or else you will have to hoof it back to the room to get 'em. The happy hour (managers coctail party) is also great with wine and your favorite licquors awailable from 5-7PM. This comes in handy after a long day of wine tasting etc.

Needed a room for one night and searched the various booking sites. Ended up using Priceline and got a room >50% off the hotel's website rate.

Check-in was easy and quick. Room was spacious w/ living room and TV, kitchenette area (no stove) with microwave, sink, coffeemaker, & fridge.

Bedroom had 2 queens but the mattresses were hard and had only one sheet and one thin blanket. Sleep quality was also hindered by loud plumbing noises from the pipes.

Parking is free and so is the breakfast (omelette station) with self-serve drinks, cereal, toast, etc. Nice place and the courtyard has two ponds with water wheel and swans. Check-out was painless and took less than a minute. Good staff.

My spouse and I stayed here recently while touring wine country. They upgraded us to an executive one bedroom suite when I complained that I didn't like the room that they gave us facing the mainroad, route 101, which would have been VERY noisy for sleeping. Our room was great, being a little larger than a standard room. It was very quiet facing the parking lot. The free breakfast was good and we were quite pleased staying here, despite the fact that they charged for internet access which should be free in all hotels, especially one as expensive as this one. We paid about $310 (before taxes) for a Thursday night stay, which is WAY more than I have ever paid to stay at an Embassy Suites hotel. They also didn't have an exercise room.

Embassy Suites is ideally located in Napa Valley, 30 minutes from the furthest wineries in Calistoga. It is only minutes to downtown dining in Napa. Hotel is very spacious and clean. Breakfast in the morning is a great added benefit as well as free cocktails in the evening. You can find cheaper hotels in the area but none, but we did see some of these and I would not skimp out. Embassy Suites is a great hotel.

Just one night here in August, which was perfect. Told them our trip to Cali was part of an anniversary celebration and they immediately upgraded us to a great room with a four poster bed, and then upgraded our two teenage boys to a suite as well!

Very friendly staff, great location close to downtown Napa and close enough to all the vineyards, hacienda style (which was great because it kept the place nice and cool, and it was 111 degrees the day we were in Napa). Free cocktails at the managers reception. Good food in the restaurant. Black swans in the pond. What more could you want?

I suppose the only downside was the very small swimming pool, but we found it perfect as base to do a quick explore of the Napa region.

Highly recommended.
