“a great stay at Napa Valley”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

I stayed here in October 2012 and I must say it is a very nice hotel. I love the ambiance of the hotel has the nice pleasant Northern California taste! The hotel is walking distance to down town Napa which is great! The managers reception and the reception hall is huge i like the decorations with the wine barrells and like that they have a nice little courtyard with a pond with a resident swan. I have stayed at many Embassy suites and I must say this is one Embassy Suites that stands out from all the rest!!!

Stayed with family. Modern decor and excellent service from staff. Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. The remodel of the common areas was a bit imposing but the staff's friendliness made up for it. Great location and price.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the pond with the swans. They are centrally located and have a great view!

The Embassy Suites Napa is laid out similarly to standard Embassy Suites with a courtyard in the middle which all rooms face... however, this one is outdoors. Even with the cool nights, this was enjoyable. The hotel seemed to be just finishing up with their final renovations in the indoor atrium, so breakfast was a bit weaker than normally expected at an Embassy Suites (no made-to-order, limited beverages, etc). Once the final construction is finished, this will definitely be a very nicely remodeled hotel. The happy hour was standard, however, if you've been out wine tasting, I would not recommend the hotel wine - you'd think they'd pick something a little better since they are in Napa. The wine in the room was also not up to par for a hotel in Napa --- again though, you have plenty of chances to pick up something better elsewhere. The room was nice and felt new; they actually had coffee beans and a grinder in our room vice your standard packets of ground coffee - much appreciated. The front desk staff members were consistently helpful with recommending and coordinating a fantastic commercial tour for us to ensuring our wine purchases made it back to our room when we were in a hurry and getting us to the right place for an airport shuttle. Lastly, unless we missed something (or it was part of renovation) they certainly could use a fitness center because the indoor pool was not really big enough for any kind of laps. I would return to this hotel if in Napa again.

Stayed 3 days at the Napa Embassy suites with two teenage boys, not a lot in this area of course for them to do. Hotel was refurbed so rooms were nice. No free WI fi till i complained on the common area was always dropping out, manager did comp that which was nice. Good Embassy breakfast as usual but needed a piece of paper voucher..kind of odd usually the room key works. Reception in the evening with wine and appt were also ok, expected a little better of a wine considering where we were. Did go over to Santa Rosa to Armstrong Redwoods and drive along the coast for a day trip. We all enjoyed the Castle winery private tour and the NAPA wine train for the lunch ride. After viewing the other cars we decided on the open air car with the Barbeque lunch which was excellent. It was 99$ each but what the heck your on vacation. At one meal at Tre Vigne not as good as before...The Napa valley olive oil company is just behind and had some of there great olive oil shipped home.
Spent two nights in San Fran at the Hilton on fishermans warf not up to par with Hilton brand. Took the Double decker bus tour of city which was great on a warm day. Made stops in China town, GG bridge and the best place the california natural science museum. Fabulous lunch there kids had great time as well.

Room Tip: really no good location of room without street noise

There was a major remodeling going on which we were told would lead to a revamped workout area. That precluded the made to order breakfast promised but it did have a hot plate eggs and sausage. There were decent snacks and free beer and wine each night. The furnishings were average for the chain. It did have a nice courtyard with swans and turtles in the pond, an indoor and outdoor pool, indoor sauna and hot tub. The TV was fine and the suite OK though the windows let in a bit of road noise from nearby highway 29. It appeared safe though the door did not automatically shut. Internet was $10/night in the rooms but parking was free. It is too far from the downtown square to walk. The staff seemed competent and friendly (and fixed quickly a triple charge for my internet).

Room Tip: Get a side away from Route 29 for better quiet.

After a recent stay the first thing you should be aware of is that the hotel is under construction.
It appears that it will be finished soon but I would check while booking. We found the room to spacious and clean, although the furniture is sporting a rather dated 80's look. Hopefully part of the remodel will be to update this look. There are two nice pools, both indoor and outdoor and a scenic, large courtyard area that has a beautiful water feature with two pair of black and white swans.
The free hot breakfast was above average quality although last day a rather large group came in and it was a bit chaotic. The hotel has free internet in the lobby business center, plenty of free parking and is located in a nice area near a shopping mall with easy access to Hwy 29. Downtown Napa is less than a mile away and there is a large grocery store about 2 minutes away.
The hotel staff was friendly and provided excellent and professional service, which definately made up for the shortcomings at this location due to the renovation.
All said we had a pretty nice stay at this location, however if you're in the area to tour the numerous wineries in the valley I would try and stay further north in either Yountville or St. Helena.

I normally really enjoy Embassy suites. The two room layout, cocktail hour and breaky.
This unit, however, sadly lacked.
First there was a major remodel going on in the dining are no one spoke of when we booked. That precluded the normal cocktail hour and breakfast- what was set up in their stead was laughable but well intentioned. Had the remodel been mentioned- as it should have- we would have stayed elsewhere for $200
The hotel itself is old and feels it. We came from Healdsburg to see Gregg Allman- thought we'd treat ourselves to a night in Napa- a bit of a let down.
Unless there was a special deal on rates in the future I think we'll just drive the hour home as usual.

Room Tip: Freeway borders the complex- ask which rooms are quieter
