“A lovely stay at The Inn at the Vines!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2009

I had a two night stay in May 2009 and I loved the experience. The room was clean and comfortable and very well appointed. The staff at the Inn at the Vines is outstanding in their service with a smile. So friendly and so very helpful. Far and above the norm in their business. Always going that extra step to ensure a leisurely and relaxing time. Loved it so much I told my coworkers and one of them has already scheduled a visit to the Inn in August of 2009! Come and Stay - you will enjoy!

My wife and I and my wife's sister all headed up to Napa for a Spa treatment and some wine tasting. Because there were three of us we decided to book a suite at the Best Western at $160/night. The suite consists of a large downstairs sitting room with a fold out sofa bed and a smaller upstairs loft with a king size bed. The problems started as soon as we walked in the door, the staff hadn't turned the heat on prior to our arrival and the room was freezing. We turned on the heater full blast but the air coming out of it was barely warm and after two and a half hours my sister in law was still huddled in bed with her jacket and mittens on. The bedding on the sofa bed consisted of a sheet and one thin cotton "blanket". The hotel offered pay per view movies, but you can't access them using the remote control and there were no directions for what to do. After calling the front desk twice and getting no answer, I walked down to the lobby and told the young man(who appeared to be completely by himself) about our problems. He promised to bring us more blankets and gave me a phone number to call for the pay per view. I called but the automated directions made no sense and I gave up after waiting on hold for five minutes. When the front desk kid showed up with the blankets we had him call the pay per view number. After waiting on hold for about ten minutes he got hold of somebody but it turns out the movies are only shown at certain times and the one we wanted was already half way through so we gave up. We asked him if there was any way to get more heat out of the heater and he said somebody would take a look at it first thing in the morning. The room was fine except for the lack of heat and the young man at the front desk helped us as much as he was able, but the pay per view was a fiasco and the over all experience was below average.

  • Liked — Staff was friendly
  • Disliked — room was cold, heat inadequate, pay per view a fiasco

We arrived at Napa valley area without having booked anything. We found this Best Western, but the price didn't match the quality. Fior 160 dollars a night, the rooms were basic. We were told these were the prices around Napa Valley, but we felt we let ourselves down by not booking early and choosing a better place for much less.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Best Western Inn at the Vines in Napa in Sept 2008. Unknowly, we booked a two story suite which was a pleasant surprise, especially at $149 a night. The main problem was that that suite faced the main road into Napa so the traffic noise was rather loud all night. Other than that one minor issue, the staff was very nice here and the hotel was clean. The hotel is located at the very south end of Napa, so it takes about 30 minutes to get all the way to Calistoga. It makes for a very scenic drive though!

Now don't get me wrong; I love adventure as well as the next person but this Motel is not what one should consider unless there is no alternative.
True, hospitality varies and a room should enclose the visitor and shelter the visitor from the outer world. To that degree, BW @ Vines works. Its open Patio, Pool and Whirlpool are useful to the traveler and charming to the visitor. It is well situated for the business traveler but the environment is not the best for the traveler.
The embedded restaurant is a Denny's; which is popular with the local crowd. Visitors to the Motel get to share the parking lot with local characters.
This facility is in the "Gateway" area of Napa; at the SOUTHEAST entry to the city. It is handy to Big Box stores like Home Depot, chain and fast food dining, new and used car dealers, Gas Stations and to better parts of the world.

  • Liked — Standing at the perimeter, looking inward.
  • Disliked — Neighborhood.

Wow nappa valley, we were excited ...

But after seeing the location of the hotel, I thought never a best western again. Located on a very busy street. Decorated half way : nice new window treatment and bedding but ugly wall paper. Tiny pool surrounded by an ugly fence.

Free Dennys breakfest, not very in the spirit of the valley

The closer you book your trip the more willing the hotel is to negotiate the price and stay length. Overall a cheap place to stay for a night or two. It's pretty clean. Hallways are kinda old smelling and it looks worn, but the staff was pleasant and accomodating.
