We've stayed at a number of B&Bs in the Napa Valley over the years, and this one came up a bit short. The room was definitely on the small side, and the oddest thing about it was that there were two tubs (a large Jacuzzi tub in the bedroom and a clawfooted tub/shower in the bath) but not a single upholstered chair to be found! So nowhere to relax and read or put on your shoes. Just one tiny wooden chair tucked behind the door. And even with a hotel-provided white noise machine, the creaky floors and doors were unbearably loud -- especially with a bachelorette party in the house! Finally, breakfast was decent, but the scones seemed box-made and the fruit was three tiny pieces (not slices) of pineapple and 4-5 loose grapes. All in all, not worth the money. You can do better elsewhere, though finding a room for a single night in the Napa Valley has become next to impossible! But that's another story for another review...

Starlight room at back of house on main floor has beautiful skylights above the king sized bed! The Friday breakfast had individual soufflés in ceramic pots. Great place within walking distance of First Street eateries.

This place is perfect for the normal adventure or off the beaten path travelled visiting Napa. It's not pretentious or overly costly but quaint and interesting. The breakfast and the digs are warm and welcoming. The quirkiness of the inn and suites are ideal for some dichotomy from the fanciful vineyards and restaurants in the area. Within walking distance of town and a lot of good restaurants, bars, and Oxbow Market. It's a great location and a great stay. We won't stay anywhere else in Napa town.

Old World Inn - Apologies for the late review, found on my phone in notes and realised I hadn't posted.

A largish B&B spread over a few buildings. First impressions were not the best, and compared to the last B&B we stayed at in California like chalk and cheese. We found our way to reception and was greeted by Macy who was extremely helpful and friendly. Macy explained a few details and showed us to our room. The room was a good size, queen bed, with built in wardrobe, large flat screen tv a couple of tub chairs and a table. The bathroom was huge, a large separate shower with a spa bath as well, big enough for two. My wife used the bath with spa but had to turn it off as the pump was very noisy, to noisy to enjoy at least.

The bed was very clean and very large and extremely comfortable and the daily clean was exceptional.

Location wise the Old World Inn was a short walk to the Main Street where most of the shops and restaurants were. Some of the side streets were dark of an evening, but we always felt safe.

Now this is where I struggle the Old World Inn seems to have lost its charm or mojo. The place was cold, not temperature but atmosphere, a number of the staff were going through the motions, with the exception of Macy who was a bright spot during our stay. The room and building really needs a lift, it's clean and decorations are in good order, but there is probably too heavy an accent on chocolate painted wood and dark painted wooden floors. This seemed to rub off on the guests, we felt there was a something lacking. This is a place were guests should be happy, after all you are on holiday ! It was just a little bit strange - just couldn't put my finger on it, it needed a spark to make it great again.
