I am fairly new to the world of Bed and Breakfasts, Old World Inn being the second one I have been to. It was a wonderful experience. What really makes this place great is the people. They are so helpful, friendly, and make you feel right at home. They were eager to make dinner reservations for us and suggest wineries, anything to make our stay more comfortable. It's great for someone who is new to the area and not sure where to go out of all the many options. They also had wine-tasting on site in their cellar, which was complimentary. Wine Tasting passes were also available to many of the wineries. The breakfast was beautifully appointed--lots of attention to detail. The room was small, but cozy and romantic. We knew the room would be small when we were booking it. Everything was done nicely, well cleaned, and attention to detail was impeccable. We would definitely stay there again!

A bit more than average a bit less than very good is what I would rate it.

This being my first B&B, I dont have a yard stick to measure this one up.

But this is what we loved:
Projector in room(Allegria), good dvd collection.
Nice spa tub in room.

What we liked
Good breakfast (healthy mac and cheese bake is good , but their strata is better). Strawberry soup was nice.
Great Salsa, but they mentioned it was store bought.
Wine pourings every evening.

What we did not like :(
Small bathroom - we knew from fellow reviewers about this, we thought we could live with it , but it is a bit inconvinient.
No head room for a tall person in the tub in bathroom. The spa tub is good though.
Knobs took a while to figure in the shower (really 1920's style)
Not much variety in breakfast (though it was hearty, we had some form of baked eggs both days and thats not very interesting)

Having said all the likes, dislikes, at the end of the day, the stay at the inn was memorable. It does feel like you are living in a different era.

Room Tip: We stayed at Allegria which was in the Original Inn. It was pretty roomy unlike others complaints ab...

We visited Napa for only one day in October and enjoyed the Old World Inn on a whim. We hadn't prebooked but luckily they had several rooms available for us to see and choose from. They ranged in size and price but where all in good shape and well appointed.

We loved the wine cellar where the wine tasting events are held and the location in Napa was great. Free easy parking and lots of lil' touches add to the value. It definately isn't a huge 5* chain hotel but it's uniqueness and the service really added up to a great place to stay.

Thanks

I & A from Canada

From my own experience there as well as reading other reviews I've come to the conclusion that unless you pay for the most expensive room you will be quite disappointed as I was. Mold on the curtains and very very small room. The bed takes up the entire room and the bed was full size. Jaccuzi didn't work and fireplace didn't work in the room. The pictures online are deceiving. Why don't they show the pictures of all the rooms? Getting to the wine trails was easy. That's the only thing really good about it. The hospitality is good but what you see isn't what you get.

Room Tip: Always ask before exactly what you are getting. Don't assume just by looking at the pictures...

After reading some mixed reviews we arrived with an open mind. The room was large, as was the bed. The bed was also extremely comfortable. The breakfasts are huge and tasty, although occasionally they seemed a strange choice. The evening wine tasting was always an event where you could meet the other guests and enjoy the delightful wines of the area. Only a short walk to restaurants and some activities (the stroll would probably not be so enjoyable on a really hot day). The negatives - the spa's overflow was too low to allow a really luxurious soak and the noise from the spa pump made it impossible to have a conversation. There was also never enough french press coffee. Overall, however, we had a great time.

We stayed here one night after spending 2 nights in Sonoma. We were greeted by the innkeeper, whom gave us the tour and made a wonderful dinner reservation for us. This place has old charm to it.
We stayed in Le Biblioteque room. The TV set up is a little strange. It's a pull down screen and a projector. The bathroom could use a little updating. I'm all for the claw foot tub, but I really had a hard time regulating the water between hot and cold (could be user error, I've never used one of these!) Water goes all over the bathroom during the shower.
But after you wipe it all down, it's good.
Breakfast was yummy. OH! They have french presses set up with coffee pre-measured, just waiting for the hot water. LOVELY touch.

We stayed at Old World Inn in September for 2 nights, all I can say was that this place was amazing! The hosts were so very nice and welcoming, they treated us like guests in their own home. The room was just perfect, and by far the highlight of our trip to the USA. Wine time in the cellar was nice, it was great to mix with the fellow guests in a social environment, and the breakfast was simply delicious!
