I shouldn't even be writing this. I love this hotel and if people find out I won't be able to get a reservation. We stay here on an occasional weekend when the work week has been too much to bear. The hotel is inviting with a large fireplace in the lobby and the staff is always friendly. You can stay in a regular room or spend a little extra for a suite at the Bella Vino section of the hotel. This trip we went for the suite. It was nicely decorated and beds were comfy. We had dinner at the hotel resturant and it was awesome as always. After we walked to the bar for a few drinks. The next morning we had room service bring breakfast which was included. We then spent a few hours at Spa Terra. The whole experience was great. We left feeling refreshed and ready for another work week.
Note: This hotel is like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Just a short drive to Yountville. It is not the place to go if you want to roll out of bed and be in downtown Napa. It's not exactly a tourist destination but a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Tips: Go to the website and book a spa/hotel package. You will save some $$ and will get additonal perks such as discounts at the spa, glasses of wine or an included breakfast. Also, book you spa treatments well in advance, I wouldn't wait until you get there to book treatments. The spa is amazing and not to be missed.

One of the few hotels in the area to handle a large corporate gathering in style. Pulling up to the resort you have to go through a corporate business park (a little wierd for being in Napa). The facility has everything you need (like most resorts). The Wine Cave is a very attractive and unique (but not soley unique) feature. The spa is world class - you do have the ability to take advantage of parts of the spa without having to book packages. My room, on the first floor was perfect for me - spacious - luxurious and convenient. Opened out to the pool and right by the entrance to the 'Cave'. I had a function that basically utilized the entire resort one night and the set-up by the pool, into the conference rooms & into the cave was superb. Quality of service and food was impeccable. Entering into the cave with live music, candles, etc at nite was quite unique & fun. The bar area in the main hall of the hotel is small, but quite adequate with great service. Would recommend staying here, especially of you are part of a large group.

Room Tip: Parts of the hotel are under construction (they are adding rooms) - so the further away you are from...

Room was very comfortable for our three day stay. We actually appreciated the location for our daily wine country explorations. Convenient to Napa where we went to eat each night. They had a free shuttle to Napa which we used to get to and from the Wine Train(nice experience and did not want to be driving afterwards).
The grounds are nice and they have a wine cave in the side of a hill in the back of the property. We enjoyed a few hours there and even bought some of their wine.
Would not hesitate to stay there again.

The arrival experience was poor. No staff at the front to greet or assist with check-in. The Front Desk Agent was efficient and provided a very good explanation of the "resort". The rooms were average. We found the beds uncomfortable as described in other reviews. The windows overlooking the pool were dirty (dirt, water stains, bird droppings) and didn't allow us to enjoy the view of the pool. Our room also provided us with a view of the back side of the property where the hotel GM and other staff members would stand and smoke cigarettes while they watched the construction project go on next door. One morning I watched the hotel GM smoke his cigarette, put it out on the ground, and then kick the cigarette butt into the flower bed. Nice touch. I know it was the GM because I saw him later in the stay and I asked the staff who he was. Back to the room; when set on cool, the A/C fan made a noise so we just slept with the windows open. Siena made for a poor dining experience. The staffing levels were poor (as stated in other reviews) and the service skills of the staff were worse. Unfortunately, we had the same server for breakfast two days in a row. Both days, she poured coffee on the floor as she wrote down our order. The spills stayed on the floor during the meals. On the second day, after our order was placed on the table, we asked for our check. The check didn't arrive until after we completed the meal and we had to ask for it, again. We had more poor service examples but these make the point. We planned to eat there more often but the train wreck service and average food drove us away. Try Mustards Grill in Yountville. It was awesome the 2 times we went. We also had fantastic meals at Cyrus and the Wine Spectator Restaurant at CIA. My wife did enjoy the spa treatment.
In my opinion, they call it a "resort" so they can charge a "resort fee". It has a bar, a restaurant, and room service. It has a pool and a hot tub. There is a spa. However, most high profile hotels in large cities have these amenities and they don't call themselves a resort. Having a tasting room, which are everywhere in this part of CA, doesn't make you a resort.
We were disappointed and will look to stay someplace else on our next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking the pool or vineyard. Other views are of buildings and office parks.

Many good things about the Meritage. Nice rooms - they gave me a complimentary upgrade because it was my birthday and even slipped a birthday card under my door. The amenities were good, including a free bottle of wine (though it was part of the resort fee so free may be a misnomer). Except for really good tomato soup, the food at the restaurant was average though the price was reasonable so it wasn't all that bad. We were there on Groupon making it a really good deal. Full price puts it on the expensive side. Two problems. The first was a function of my expectations. I thought that since it was at a vineyard it would be charming. Instead, it was a bigger resort accessed through an industrial park. The second was we were told to go to the concierge for a free gift which was a wine-tasting pass for two along with some good information about the sights. It ended with an offer to sit through a time-share pitch. I am pretty good at resisting so they backed off but I did find it bothersome. Besides the normal wine-tastings, you may want to check out the Oxbow Market, a cool upscale food court. I liked the Venezuelan restaurant, Pica Pica. The second thing to check out is the Uptown Theater which has live music. The Marshall Tucker Band was there one of the nights we were in Napa.

Says it all. If you're looking for a true Napa experience, the location of the Meritage does not fit the bill. Located south of the city of Napa, the hotel's location and style/layout is best suited for a conference. The room was nice, however the mattress was uncomfortable, and for a relatively new property, the carpet in our room showed various stains. The hotel's restaurant, "Siena" was less than spectacular. They were severely understaffed for dinner, resulting in slow service and a wait for the next course and to place another drink order. The food was good however the curry-coconut sauce overwhelmed the delicate sea bass. The hotel charges a daily resort fee of $20.00 per day for the use of their small gym, and the outdoor pool and hot tub. Though the property boasts an underground spa, unless you book a treatment starting at $70.00+ you cannot use the spa facilities unless you pay $25.00 per day. I would prefer to spend more on a hotel in the heart of the Napa Valley and have the use of their spa facilities at no extra charge, plus most of these hotels will include a full breakfast, and a wine tasting with various cheeses, crackers, and fruit.

Our resort fee also includes: parking, wifi access, evening shuttle service, bottle of wine upon arrival, daily water in the guest rooms. We hope that sounds more worth it! We had a great stay at this hotel. At first look we were disappointed by the location of the hotel. But once inside the beautiful, new, clean, staff friendly hotel you forget all that. We were not happy with the view from our room because of current constriction which will be completed soon. It took just a short phone call to the front desk and they were happy to upgrade us.

The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever slept in. While Napa Valley was great we really recommend a visit to the Carneros
region. The fire pit at night was a nice touch. Craig at the Concierge's desk was very helpful.

We would certainly stay at this hotel again, hopefully next time having time for the beautiful Spa.
