“not worth it!!!”

We were looking forward for this trip!!! We save some money, scheduled a baby siter to watch the kids and fly to SF, drove to Napa al cheer up. Well, this hotel is nothing but a little hotel. Why $300/night, I don't get it. We din't get what promised and were very upset. The cave Spa which is promoted in every brochure and in the hotel's name "The Meritage Resourt and Spa" is a falls information. The spa we were told by Piter from the front desk is a SEPERATE BUSINESS!!! as a guest of the hotel we could not get an appointment nor come and join the facility, such as the steam room or Jacquzi. We were told by the Spa Host that we could not come on the weekend because its booked by out side guest...and there were NO ONE in the SPA. Michael, the manager said the sam thing, the Spa is a seperate business and not part of the hotel!!! The councier keep calling our room looking for us to give us a "welcome gift"...it ends up she was trying to have up come to a 3 hour meeting to buy a time share...6:30 am Monday morning we heard this horrobile sound, looking at the window, we saw the mini people blowing pestasice all over the vines across the hotel.
Well people, save your money and go to another hotel!!!!

Room Tip: get the pool view, there is constraction site fros

I just returned from a weeks vacation in Napa and San Francisco. During our stay in Napa we stayed at The Meritage Resort and Spa. We arrived at the hotel were immediately upgraded to a "room with a view" and a bottle of wine. Our room was spacious - two double beds with a flat screen TV. They also offer complementary DVD's and a bag of popcorn to go with it. Our room was spotless and the bathroom worked well with double sinks and a separate area for the toilet. The hotel offers a complementary shuttle which we used nightly to take us to either a restaurant or to the Napa Wine Train. They have their own vineyard with a beautiful spa and wine cave we enjoyed a complementary tasting during our stay. I have to say that the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We had a wonderful stay and would certainly return.

Room Tip: I found a great rate on Expedia.

Joined a couple friends and wife in napa for 2 nights and made the mistake of staying here. The pros: Nice staff, and to our surprise offered a free shuttle service!
Cons: LOCATION!! You are 5-7 minutes out from downtown Napa, but drive through car dealers, home depots etc...to get anywhere. Just really was nothing special at all to the place, you feel like their goal was to be as large a resort as possible, and was nothing more than a glorified Holiday INN.

We stayed at the Meritage May 12 to May 15th.

It appears the Hotel is lacking in overall management and Customer Focus. Here are examples of why I say this.

On the first night went to the lobby bar to have a drink, waited over 20 minutes without even an acknowledgement of the bartender. And the bar only had about 5 customers in it. We left and drove into Napa to get batter service.

Spent over $ 400.00 at the Spa, the attendants in the dressing rooms were great, however no hot water in the showers and only comment form front desk we are working on it and we will take a little off you bill, still have not seen that.

Went to the restaurant for breakfast, waited 10 minutes to be seated, again very few people eating at tables most of the tables were empty but still had dirty dishes on them. After being seated took 15 minutes to get have our order taken, then another 30 minutes for the food. This was a simple breakfast not full meals. Service very slow and not customer focused.

We decided to go to the wine tasting room. All over the hotel were notes (even on the room key) go to wine tasting 2 for 1 if you are staying at the hotel. The next day I noticed out invoice and they changed us for two wine tastings. I went to the front desk to ask about this and the front desk said…” I can print your invoice and you can walk over there and ask them why they charged your wrong”, once again lack of customer focus.
In the three days we were there we spent $ 1,600.00 for the room and Spa, defiantly not worth it. I would recommend staying at one of the hotels in downtown Napa and not out in the business park.

Visited the Meritage Resort and Spa in early September and really enjoyed it. We got upgraded to a suite which was beautiful and overlooked the pool. The free wine tasting was a nice touch- but would have been nice if it was offered to every guest rather than 2 for 1. However, they did have a complementary bottle in the room so it made up for it! The concierge was extremely helpful. She gave us free wine tastings at Jessup and Gerralds wine and was at our disposal for anything we needed. The free shuttle to town was a nice surprise and we took advantage of it the first night we were there. I would recommend staying at the Meritage and I would definitely return to this hotel.

Room: Clean, large and comfortable

Location: A bit far from everything, but they did have a free shuttle into town. We made reso’s at Redd and since the shuttle did not go there we had to take a private car which ended up costing about $100 for the round trip.

Tips: Ask for the upgrade. If you are celebrating a special occasion they might just give it to you!

The web site looked amazing but don't be fooled.

Firstly this hotel is in a business park.

Secondly the service is dreadful. Especially at breakfast, 45 minutes after arrival we were yet to get so much as a glass of water. We had to repeatedly ask for our juices and hot drinks, it wasn't until we got angry that anyone bothered to do anything.

Monica in the bar did a great job but was constantly left alone, so despite her greatest efforts service was slow.

My room had some giant pice of plastic outside which flapped and smacked against the wall all night.

The spa is not included, and the outdoor pool wasn't sufficiently heated.

On a positive note, thanks to Rosemary the concierge for arranging a great wine tasting schedule and recommending the fabulous Morimoto Napa, the best Japanese restraurant I have ever experienced.

Thank goodness for some amazing employees such as Jen and Raul or else this review would be 100% negative. we had some confusion with a gift package given to us a few years ago. we booked it and I was very clear during my booking as to what it entailed. I even faxed the list of what it included and gave them weeks to confirm it all. From the bewildered front desk to the initial spa attendant, everyone doubted and questioned what I was saying. what happened to "the customer is always right". they need ritz carlton training is all I can say. if it werent for some people, like Jen who made things "right"...we almost checked out as soon as we checked in. what was a bday celebration caused me much stress.

Room Tip: ask for the second floor balcony.
