“Excellent food!”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

We had a lovely tapas dinner at Zuzu. There were four of us and our waiter suggested that we each order 2 tapas so we had 8 in total...and of course we had their sangria. The food was amazing....you must try the Paella, the shrimp, the crouquetas, the lamb chops...all very delicious! And for all the food and drinks we had, the total cost per person was very reasonable! I woudl return to this restaurant again!

“There are MUCH better restaurants in Napa”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

My family enjoys tapas so we were excited about trying ZuZu while we were on vacation. Maybe we were tired, maybe it was an off night but everything about the experience was lousy. We sat down at the bar while we waited on our table. The bartender was friendly but said they didn't serve soft drinks like Diet Coke. He said they had Cane Cola but that was all. Ok. I got a Cane Cola. The hostess sat us but it was awhile before our server came over. The place was clearing out but she was apparently rushed and couldn't answer any of our questions. We ordered 5 dishes. When the pork dish arrived we thought there had been a mistake because it looked like a piece of fish. Turns out it was all fat - there wasn't any meat on it. There are too many outstanding restaurants in the new Napa River Walk for us to try ZuZu again. Hopefully your experience will be better.

“Perfect Tapas”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

Friends and family gathered for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the small plates and sharing that is featured at Zuzu. Service was friendly and very helpful with recommendations for wine and menu selections. We began with olives and spicy roasted almonds. The shaved sunchoke and portabella mushroom salad should not be missed and the plate of different spanish jamons was excellent quality. Pan fried manchego, and the traditional tortilla of potato and onion were warm and creamy. A special of stuffed squash blossoms in a habanero sauce was a highlight. Delicious tres leches cake, apple empanada, chocolate pudding, and a dense basque cake were the perfect endings to a lovely shared lunch.

“Terrific Option for Something Different”
Reviewed June 24, 2014

It was nice to find a restaurant in Napa that offered something a little different from heavy steak and seafood. The two of us ordered 3 hot tapas--all terrific. The shrimp was excellent (I completely disagree with another review of it) and was my favorite with a garlicky sauce that we sopped up with bread. We also had the pork cheeks (meltingly tender) and rice cake with jamon Serrano. All were perfectly portioned for two people. Also, this is a fusion restaurant in its own way with elements of Spanish and Peruvian cooking so no need to quibble about being "authentic." The use of peppers, various types of which we'd never eaten before, was terrific. We finished with the BEST apple empanada in a caramel sauce that combined a touch of lime with yet another sweet pepper we didn't recognize. We actually wished we were hungrier so we could have ordered more. Interesting selection of wines as well, Spanish not just Napa. Get there before 7 p.m. or you will have to wait.

“Not that authentic”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

I wish I could recommend Zuzu, as I love finding tapas/Spanish restaurants. However, I did not find the cuisine to be truly authentic and was quite ill from it the next day. The paella didn't have a strong saffron flavor and the croquettes were chicken, not ham (as is customary in Spain). We also had a shrimp dish that I believe may have been the culprit in my severe stomach bug the following day, which really put a damper on our trip. Looking back, I wish we would have chosen one of the many other highly rated restaurants in the Napa/Yountville area.
