“Good winery visit, nice patio pizza/wine pairing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2011

We visited the Signorello Winery a couple weeks ago and had a nice visit. This is a beautiful estate with a classic tasting room and a lovely patio area in back where you can enjoy wine/food pairing meals.

Here we tried the patio pairing which included 3 wine samples and a decent sized margherita pizza (US$30) and (US$38 for the reserve version). This was quite pricey for wine tasting but as it included a decent lunchtime meal at a patio table with a great vineyard views, how can one complain.

In terms of the wine, we were not in love with the whites but some of the reds went very well with the pizza. In particular we quite enjoyed their 2007 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2006 Padrone and ended up purchasing one bottle of the Padrone to take home for dinner that evening.

Overall, Signorello was a good visit and the pizza pairing seemed a good idea. We would recommend considering this winery if you are planning to visit estates along Silverado Trail and timing it to arrive around lunchtime so you can enjoy a nice patio side meal with your tasting.

“Great wine and the mst gorgeous view of Napa valley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2010

I have been going to Napa Valley for 25 years but only dicsovered this gem of the winery recenntly. Perched on the top of the hill far off the Silverado trail, Signorello is a small boutique winery that only sells 6000 case per year primarily to their wine club memberes. Wines are superb and the view from the terrace ( open to wine club members only) are the best in the valley. Non members can enjoy having wine and pizza on the terrace as well and take in a gorgeous view of the valley.

“The Enoteca Experience offers a sublime journey at extremely good value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2009

Though I can confidently recommend a "general" visit to Signorello (e.g., classic tasting room visit), my primary recommendation is to do the Enoteca Experience, a 90-minute small group tasting that integrates a sampling of both small lot and general distribution wines with corresponding food pairings prepared fresh in their own kitchen by a master chef.

Though there is an educational component (the experience is guided by a Signorello official who shares some of the winery's history, wine making philosophy, and background on each wine) this isn’t a formal class on wine/food pairings. The overall tone is fun, informal and familial (by the end of my journey, I knew where all of my fellow participants grew up, how many pets they had, and what they loved about wine; I’d heard about the French style of wine making from the winemaker himself, who wandered into the room by happenstance and stopped to chat with our group; and I learned the stories behind some of the formidable culinary creations when the chef himself popped in and out to talk with us at random).

I would definitely do this again. For $65 (a very good value, considering that many mediocre wineries charge $20 for wine-only tastings of their mass-market wines. Signorello is a winery that produces a small number of relatively low-volume, artisan wines) it is quite reasonable, not merely for the food and wine but also for the intangible value of having a great time relaxing and chatting with others in a nice environment.
