“Great Trail for running”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

When travelling I always look for nice trails to run on, so when I review a park like this, it's mostly based on the run-ability factor. The Skyline Trail is a great option. There are actually 25 miles of trails in this wilderness park, with the main one being the Skyline Trail. My 13 mile run had over 2600 feet of climbing, so it gives you an idea of the hilly nature of the park. Great views of Napa Valley, and lots of wildlife. When in Napa I would definitely plan to run again on these trails. If you need water, be sure to bring it with you, there was none to be found on the trails.

“CRAZY Hike”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

So....the welcoming signs warn of rattlesnakes, mountain lion and a 'do not enter' to a state hospital. The trails are not well marked when there are forks in the road and sometimes you have to move around to find signs that might help lead you in the right direction. HOWEVER, do not be intimidated. The views are spectacular. The wilderness wonderful. The Thatchers Rim Rock Trail is the most difficult part of this hike. Even for experienced hikers! It took us the full four hours by following Skyline and Buckeye. Do It ..... Just Do It! Than have some wine!

“Great hiking”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

This was a calm and lovely setting. We did not see many other people and found an easy, well maintained path. There were several hiking choices that would have been more challenging.

“Rundown Campground Bataan Death March”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

After you pay your $5 at the entrance and get a map you park and go through the dilapidated "garden" you then cross a field and search for the unmarked trailhead. Well we missed it and went full around to ask where it was. Tried again and found it. The trail starts with a fenced in dirt road for 1/3 of a mile with horse poop and mosquitoes everywhere. When you emerge you are greeted with a steep hike up a dry nasty hillside. We turned around. The main bathrooms have been out-of-order for some time as the port-o-poties have been there a looong time. I cannot in good conscience give it a lower mark because we did not go far enough along the trails, but the from beginning it was dry, hot and rundown.
